Story
Blanche arrived at TJO and quickly made it known that she very much enjoyed ear scratches and liked anyone who was willing to give them to her. She is a little timid meeting new people, but given the chance to sniff them at her pace she is usually confident in their ear scratching prowess within moments. OTHER PETS: Blanche is confident in herself but isn't too pushy, and would likely get along with most other dogs. To ensure a good fit, Blanche should meet any dog she would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: [First Dog] KIDS: Blanche is a friendly dog who is comfortable with handling once she trusts someone. She is outgoing and does not take long to like someone as long as they introduce themselves slowly. [Likely (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Blanche is a dog who would do well with daily walks and the opportunity to exercise her sniffer, she was not very interested in toys but may enjoy something like agility where she could work with her owner to do something challenging and fun, as well as plenty of mental enrichment. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Blanche bond with her new owner as well as help her learn important cues and skills. Blanche could engage in dog sports once she receives appropriate, positive reinforcement training. [Minimal] GROOMING: Regular brushing will help ensure that Blanche's coat remains clean and matt-free between groomings, she should be professionally groomed every 6-8 weeks. Story
Meet Snoopy, a lively 5-year-old Yorkie who's looking for a home where he can let his personality shine! Snoopy came to us after being surrendered to Thomas J. O'Connor. Snoopy will need some patience as he works on house training, but his bright, eager-to-please nature suggests he'll catch on in no time with consistent guidance. He's a little wary of new people at first, but give him a few minutes, and you'll see his warm, sweet side emerge. He has a hard time being left alone and may bark a lot, so apartments may not be the best fit for him unless you have thick walls or tolerant neighbors. Snoopy prefers his independence and isn't a big fan of being picked up or handled too much. He'll thrive with adopters who respect his boundaries and give him the time he needs to build trust. Given this, we would recommend he go home with kids 12+. We do not know how he does with dogs or cats. If you're looking for a spirited, playful companion who's ready to learn and grow with you, Snoopy might just be your guy! If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt. **the below two methods are slower than visiting us** Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter

Meet Bella, the joyful little Yorkie mix who’s ready to bring happiness to her new forever family! This 10-lb sweetheart is full of spunk and charm, winning hearts with her happy-go-lucky personality. Bella was surrendered to us when her previous owners realized they didn’t have the time to give her the attention she deserves. Now, she’s eagerly waiting for a family who can shower her with love and give her the devoted companionship she’s been longing for. If you’re looking for a cheerful, loyal friend to brighten your days, Bella could be the perfect match!  is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (puppies under the age of 6 months may not be sterilized prior to adoption, if this is the case your adoption coordinator will discuss the process with you). Story
Hello, I`m Anyla. I`m a bit shy at first, but once I warm up to you, my energetic and sweet nature shines through. I love to play, so I hope you have lots of toys and maybe a yard for me to explore. I might take a little while to come out of my shell, but I promise it`s worth the wait. My perfect day involves a good run, a nap, and lots of cuddles. I`m ready to give all my love to a forever family who can help me feel safe and loved. Adopting me means gaining a loyal friend who will always be by your side.

Good with dogs,
Story
Meet Kader, a super sweet, calm, and laid-back little guy who adores his people and prefers their company above all. He’s fully housetrained, does great in his kennel, and would do best in a home without young children. Older children with respectful, dog-savvy manners may be okay, as long as they understand Kader’s need for calm and space. Kader is fine being around other dogs, though he’d rather share his home with female dogs or just be the only pet. While he enjoys some playtime with other dogs, he can get a bit protective around larger males—just a gentle growl to set boundaries but never aggressive. Kader sheds very minimally, if at all, but we cannot guarantee he will be suitable for those with allergies.   Kader’s story is a testament to resilience and kindness. He was found unconscious in a parking lot in Texas, wearing an embedded harness, and was quickly taken to an emergency room by his rescuer. Thanks to their quick action, Kader made a full recovery and is now ready for his forever home.   Kader is currently in foster care on Martha’s Vineyard. Potential adopters should be prepared to travel to the island to meet him if they’re not already local. Kader is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. (puppies under the age of 6 months may not be sterilized prior to adoption, if this is the case your adoption coordinator will discuss the process with you).
