Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 5/16/2021 Reason for being in rescue: Sally was found as a stray on the side of a highway by a former employee of our rescue. No one came forward for this beautiful girl. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Sally is spayed and up to date on all vaccines. Sally has heartworms and was treated on 08/04/2021. The protocol we use is two-fold. We do a pre-treat people where the dog takes doxycycline (an antibiotic) for at least 30 days. During this time the dog is also on regular heartworm prevention. The drug doxycycline weakens the adult heartworms. We then used a drug called diroban (a generic immiticide) to kill the adult heartworms. The dogs are given 2 injections of diroban 24 hours apart. They are then under strict rest protocols for 5 weeks - mostly cage rest with limited leash walks each day.  Weight: 45 lbs Height: 20 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No, but Sally would love one What kind of home would be best for me? Sally is a mature girl with some pep in her step. She needs to be the only dog in a home with a family that will take her for daily walks, but understands she is past her running and hiking days. Sally has had very little training. Leash walking is new to her. Her forever home needs experience with dogs to continue teaching Sally in a gentle way how to walk on a leash and live her best life.  What is my personality like? Sally is an interesting girl that somehow manages to warm your heart just by being with you. Although she is older she would still like to go on walks and explore new surroundings. She is quite the adventurer. She doesn’t like to have other dogs in her space and couldn’t do well with another dog in the home. Sally usually has a more clam demeanor and will work if it means treats! She does okay on leash but will pull sometimes (she is not leashed often). Sally was found as a stray by a former employee and brought to the rescue with no known background. However we have found Sally to be quite the joy to be around. Her caregivers have noted that she likes to play for just a little bit and then come back inside for her naps. She prefers lots of bedding and enjoys having the more comfortable things in life. Sally likes to sunbathe in the grass and she likes it even better when someone will just sit with her outside for a bit. She loves the outdoors. Sally would be good for a home that is seeking a calmer older dog but wants one that is still active enough to go on walks with them. Overall she is a very sweet dog just looking for here perfect forever home to come along! How do I act when I first meet new people? Other tips and tidbits: Sally is a senior girl. We celebrate her birthday as 5/16/2011 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. November 5, 2024, 5:31 pm

Story
Goose is a purebred Vizsla who loves to cuddle, run around, and be right next to you all of the time. Goose was rescued from a puppy mill, so he has some behavioral issues stemming from prior abuse. He is reactive on a leash toward other dogs, he is reactive towards males that he does not know, and he DOES have two bites on record. He is an anxious dog who becomes fearful due to past abuse, and a random times he can become aggressive. 90 percent of the time he is the best dog in the world, but we are looking for him to have a home that is willing to accomodate his behavioral issues. It is preferred that he go to a home with only one person living in the home, and definitely no kids. With the right love and support, Goose can be a wonderful dog. We are looking to start a family and we can no longer accomodate him or the behavioral problems.
