Story
Meet Scrappy!! He is 13 years young, with a heart of gold, and 5 lbs of fluff ready to cuddle all the time! He has had quite the tough time lately and he's ready for a soft place to call home from now on. He lost both eyes to glaucoma, but still loves to explore--carefully! He is a quiet, affectionate, and friendly dog who loves other dogs and people. Due to his age and blindness, Scrappy is a special needs dog, and he will require a patient owner and some particular care. He will need to be watched outside, as he has already caught the eye of some hawks at his fosters' house. He does not like to be alone for long periods, and he does not like a crate or being crated in a small area--likely due to past history--but does well in his playpen. Since his recent surgery, he's having some issues with piddles in the house, but we are working to retrain him to go outside when needed. In the meantime, he is accustomed to wearing diapers inside to limit messes. Scrappy is perfectly imperfect, and he would thrive in a comfortable home where he can cuddle up with his favorite person! Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be submitted online, or sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org, faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner’s White Oak Shopping Center. We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. Thanks for thinking adoption!

Story
This pet was brought in as a stray and will NOT be available for adoption through our program. All stray animals brought in are posted on the gallery to hopefully be reunited with their families. Each pet is evaluated upon arrival, and throughout their stay, at the Animal Center and we do our best to place the animal in the setting most appropriate for them. Sometimes, they may be better served through one of our Transfer Partners due to the intervention needed, ongoing care required or a quieter setting for that individual. We want our animals to put their best paw forward. If you are a 501c3 rescue and are interested in partnering with WCAC to help this pet, and others, you can find more information on how to help at: https://www.wakegov.com/departments-government/animal-services/community-partners/transfer-program If this is your pet, please contact us immediately at AnimalCenter@wake.gov Primary Color: Brown Weight: 14 Age: 1yrs 0mths 0wks

Story
Little Dove is a 7 lb, 10 year old toy poodle. She is super sweet and scared. She came from a hoarding situation where she lived with many other dogs in filthy conditions. She had not been groomed in a while and was very matted. Now Little Dove has been cleaned up and spayed. She is deaf and missing half of her right ear. A retirement home with someone who has patience while Little Dove learns about love and comes out of her shell would be the best place for her. She is making some progress in her foster home so we think it will just take some time for her to learn a new home and get comfortable. Since she is deaf, it would be best for a home that has had experience with a deaf dog and the patience to give her the time she needs to learn her new family and routine. Little Dove is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. She is also on heartworm and flea preventative. Adoption Fee: $200 If you are interested in adopting Little Dove, please visit our website and fill out an  Adoption Application. https://www.doggierefuge.org/index.php/adoption-application/
