Story
“Where did this girl come from!?” Was the thing everyone who met Mabel said because she immediately feels like joy walked in with sunshine in tow. Her face, her energy, the love- she just feels so good to be in the company of! And she sure appreciates the love she gets in return and it looks good on her. Two things before you go reading her whole bio- Do you love buying dog toys for a dog that loves toys? If you said no, Mabel may not be for you, she loves toys! LOVES them. It would be unfair to her and you would be cheating yourself out of a front row seat to absolute cuteness. Do you allow your dog on the couch? If you say no, I would like you to reconsider that stance if you adopt Mabel. Her love of the soft cozy spot right next to you is another thing you would cheat yourself from experiencing if she can’t get on the couch. Okay, we got those things out of the way and if you are still here, great! Soft places and cute toys- check. Now let me tell you more about sweet Mabel. First off, she has never met a stranger, in fact its almost like she is the appointed leader of the greeting committee. The best part is that she is greeting with sparkling eyes and the happiest tail. There is no doubt she is happy to see you, even if its for the first time. So expect to meet at least a few new people while out on walks together. She is working on it but that enthusiasm for life and all the goodness can lead to her pulling a bit on leash. She is actively working on it and thanks to her love of people and treats, she is a quick learner. Once she gets home, training will continue with you by her side. Another thing you can look forward to is Mabel’s love of water being another source of entertainment and joy. You will see it in her profile video but whether its trips to the beach or a kiddie pool in the back yard, she is going to love splashing around and making you laugh. We introduced Mabel to a few new dogs to get an idea of how friendly she is with new dogs and see her play style. This helps us know what type of dogs would be best, if any, in her future home. Mabel quickly showed us she is what we call a “rough & rowdy” playmate. She likes to run and romp and even wrestle, all in good fun, but an ideal playmate would have similar playstyle or understand it as play. Her playmate match that day was a big ol’ rough and rowdy pit bull named Petey. Her approach to play could be intimidating or misunderstood by some dogs but she corrects easily and calms quickly when play is not returned by the other dog. An ideal home for Mabel would be with a family that understands the importance of training for her mental and physical well-being. Walks, socializing, and learning/respecting house manners will be important for her family to support her in. Mabel is very fortunate to be waiting for her adoption day in the home of a dedicated foster family that has other dogs and is always practicing best manners with them. Older kids would be best for Mabel, her zoomies are amazing but enough to knock over a little one on new walking legs. A cat-free home will be important for Mabel. When introduced to our house cat she was much too interested and eager, this would translate into chasing a cat in the home. That is chaos for everyone and cats hate it. See what Mabel's family says about her here https://fb.watch/vNlOMDhLyS/ We estimate Mabel to be about 3 years old, in rescue we cannot be 100% accurate, but our medical staff makes educated observations to provide an accurate estimate. Currently Mabel weighs 60 lbs and is fully-grown. Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
