Story
Winona has been through a lot. We don't know all the details of her life but she was discovered in a local residents yard, where she had been hiding for several days. She's still fairly timid but she's a gentle girl and is starting to come out of her shell. Winona will need a quiet, adult home with yard access. She loves to lean into you and snuggle up. Even though, Winona is a big girl, she thinks she's a lap dog. She's athletic as well and once comfortable, she will love walks and hikes. Story
Astrid is a LARGE Armenian Gampr weighing in at a healthy 160 pounds. At 3 years old, Astrid is still a puppy at heart and seems to be unaware of her larger than life size. More often than not she can be found lost in her own world, running around, jumping in the air trying to catch some wind under her paws. Astrid must have a vivid imagination as she loves to just hang out on her own, keeping herself entertained. She enjoys simple things like a dip in the kiddie pool and a fluffy squeaky toy. Astrid would like to find a home where she can have all the attention to herself with no other animals. She may get along with other humans 16 and older. She would like a home with a large yard and high secure fencing. An owner willing to invest in training her to be well behaved is a requirement. My adoption comes with a free month of training from GoodPup.com to ease me into my new home and help me bond with my new family.

Story
Remy von Remse is a very handsome 11 month old Anatolian Shepherd mix. Remy is a big, beautiful baby boy who is going to get bigger, but that only means there will be more of him to love. Part Anatolian shepherd with a large frame, he is very friendly with everyone, playful, happy, and eager to experience all that the world has to offer. A smart and active pupster, Remy will do best in a home with lots of activities and hopefully a fair amount of space to run and play with another playful dog if there happens to be another furry family member. (no small kids as he is still a big puppy). He's happy to meet dogs and is the life of the party in his playgroups, delighted to play and romp with everyone. If you want this sweet face greeting you every morning, come meet Remy! (No cats please.) Rescued from the Victorville animal shelter. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Remy von Remse YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org Application link: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog%20Main.html Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Story
We rescued this adorable 4 year old (as of June 2024) boy and he is looking for his forever home. Sweet and playful, he loves toys and water, is house trained, and would make a great active companion for an adult home. Ralfie does get along with other dogs but does need to be the only dog in the home. He knows how to sit and give paw and would love to meet you. Story
Helena has a big heart and a big body! Haha!! We assume she is an Anatolian Shepherd/Armenian Gampr. This site does not have that as a breed option. Best as the only dog. Helena was surrendered while in labor and required emergency surgery to deliver the puppies. The people that “owned” her claimed to not have any money for vet care and were driving around with her in the car for hours looking for a vet to do the surgery for free. Finally they ended up at an emergency hospital that knew our friends at HOPE FOR PAWS and they agreed to help with the surgery only if they surrendered the dog to them. They surrendered her and then had the nerve to ask if they could leave a $1,000 deposit for one of the male puppies! Some people are amazing! Of course we would not adopt to them! Helena was so neglected! She had a prolapsed vagina that they said had been that way for “a few months” and they never got her medical care. She was extremely dirty, under weight and she’s lucky she survived! She was too weak to nurse the puppies so they were bottle fed.

Story
This is Rufus. He will be 2 years old on November. He is a very excited puppy that needs a good adopter to have a nice yard or able to take to the dog park. Because he is a puppy he eats quite a bit. He is a yard dog so there was no need to bathe him as much. We cannot take Rufus to the dog park to let off his energy and we have made the decision that our current schedule does not fit with his and would rather someone else take the time to help him get what he very much deserves. And that’s being an active pup as he should be. It hurts that we want him but cannot let him suffer to enjoy being a puppy.
