Story
Hope is a sweet older cat (15-16 years old) who loves purring loudly while cuddling as much as possible. She would do best in a slow paced home without other cats. Our niece experienced a mental health issue last fall and could no longer keep her and we brought her into our home that had 2 dogs and 2 other cats. It appears that Hope is being bullied by the other cats and now is urinating outside of the litter box that is guarded. We have followed the 3-3-3 Rule for Cats and she has not yet adapted to our home with 2 other cats after 4 months. Hope was adopted at the age of 9 from PetSmart by our niece who had her for 6 years. We would love to keep Hope as she is a sweet girl but do not want to keep her stressed in a home with two other cats who seem to bully her.

Story
Meet Wanda IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN WANDA, PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE TO READ ABOUT THE PROCESS AND FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. www.furkidrescue.org Wanda was a young teenage kitten when we trapped her in a feral colony in Bethel Park. We had a cat experienced foster home willing to take her in as a foster and get her used to domestic life. It took months, but now she loves the indoors, and loves human affection and attention. She follows her foster mom, Emilie, around the house, “yelling” at her, and demanding pets and butt scratches. She also gets along well with the resident cats and dog, and you can often find her hanging out with the dog!

Story
This is Truffles, a one-year old girl who has the sweetest disposition. She was a stray that was trapped, but was way too nice to be put back outside. She is very affectionate and will jump right into your lap. She has no interest in toys, at least not yet. Truffles is also afraid of other cats, so she would prefer to be an only child.

Poor Juno has had a rough life- She was surrendered as a stray, pregnant and sick. She needed emergency surgery and it took some time but she now is healthy and only wants to be someone's lap cat! She would do best with little or no other pets. She has waited over 2 years for her someone- is that you?

NOW YOU DID IT! You found a cat rescue that’s unique, kind of small, but does some really BIG things for the community cats in Pittsburgh. It is an awesome place to come and see if your next kitty cat is here, patiently waiting for you to come and get them. The rescue is on the 2nd & 3rd floors of my Pittsburgh home (I reside on the 1st floor). Set up an appointment to come and visit by calling or text FAON @ 412-863-0064. I will show you all of the cats and then you/yours can go around and visit with them. Feed them a Churru or two...but remember this- not the big, older orange or white ones! They are my cats Ralph and White Boy and know the trick and will act starved. You will see, they are not. Once the adults are vetted and tested/vaccinated- I let them free roam. We have a large, outside CAT E O where some enjoy to layout outside. There is also plenty of room inside for a good cat nap. We always have cats in a wide variety of age/personalities. Don't forget to visit the shy one in the corner, those cats need a chance and will blossom in a calmer environment (and are often times the best cats). Lots of the kittens here need your time, esp. at first. We save the cutest cats from outside, neglect, poverty, sad emails or stumble upon them by luck over and over again. Come see why Save Our Strays has adopted out over 1000 cats in 4 years. We use some of our profits to TNR (trap, neuter, release) countless strays that are too unsocial for a home but desperately need altered. By spay and neutering them, they can live a healthier life & we help decrease the number of outside domestic cats. Adopting from Save Our Strays helps to support that. A little about me and SOS. I rescue and live with the cats, so I am very familiar with them and their background. I have three amazing women that volunteer here. They help to make this drastic change in the cat’s life possible. We do all that we can here for the cats. Often, we are complimented on how clean everything is. We use stainless steel litter pans and bowls that are disinfected daily. Litter robots to help keep the litter boxes fresh. We feed Purina Pro Plan (kitten)and a canned breakfast with a probiotic. All of the cats are dewormed, given Capstar for fleas, have at least one/two FVRCP vaccines, rabies, ear mite treated (if needed), combo tested for FeLV & FIV, and microchipped. If you have done the long cat application and then no one gets back to you, or the cats already adopted by the time they do, then yinz should check us out. We have same day adoptions. I do not have a long application process. I ask that you are allowed to have a cat where you live and are financially able to afford their care. I ask that you not declaw that cat and if they get sick take them to the doctor. Give the cat time to slowly adjust, one last time to their new environment, so its a pleasant experience for them. The cat has most likely been through a lot before finding you. You are also rescuing them. In return, they will love you for life.

Set up an appointment to come and visit by calling or text FAON @ 412-863-0064. I will show you all the cats and then you/yours can go around and visit with them. Feed them a Churu or two, they love company. Once the adults are vetted and tested/vaccinated- we let them free roam. There is a large, outside CAT E O where some enjoy to layout outside. There is also plenty of room inside for a good cat nap. Be sure to look around, spend time with them. We always have cats in a wide variety of age/personalities. Don't forget to visit the one in the corner, those cats need a chance and will blossom in a calmer environment (and are often the best cats). “Feel their soul” if you would and see if it pairs to yours. If you fall in love here, great. If not, no hard feelings. Most people say it was hard to choose. We changed the cat’s life by rescuing them. Now they need rescued one last time…..could you be that person? We hope so. All the cats come rescued are from outside, neglect, poverty, or were left somewhere purposely or just needed to be found. This is really an AMAZING process. Come see why Save Our Strays has adopted out over 1000 cats in 4.5 years.
