Story
Meet Kit Kat This beautiful orange tabby came to us after he was found lost and alone. Our volunteers and staff have been working extra hard with Kit Kat to help him overcome his shyness, and he has come out of his shell! We estimated his birthday as September 12, 2022, and he has been with us over a year! Kit Kat started out as a loveable furball, but life in the shelter has not agreed with him. He can often be seen up high, observing his friends at play. Or you might find him curled up with one of his buddies. We strongly believe that in a quiet home of his own, he will find his confidence again and you would be so rewarded! If you can offer a safe home to Kit Kat, please submit a cat application online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to let us know to be on the lookout. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Ariel Ariel is a gorgeous tiger kitten with beautiful golden eyes. Ariel came into us alone, and has proven herself to be the official "mama" of the kitten room." She typically watches what's going on and who is coming in to visit, then will work her way down for love and scratches. We think she will fully thrive in a quiet home environment. When potential adopters come in to visit, Ariel has been overlooked because she shares her room with playful, adorable kittens who always steal the show, but her quiet patience really touches our hearts. If you are looking for a sweet kitty who really deserves a break, Ariel is the one for you. Ariel LOVES other kitties and would do best in a home with a kitty companion, or if she is able to bring one of her Smithgall playmates home with her at adoption. If you can open your heart and offer a safe home to Ariel, please submit a cat application online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to let us know to be on the lookout. Story
Meet Brandon Cuteness overload!! Brandon came to us as a tiny kitten with his mama, brother and sister. He is just the sweetest, friendliest and most handsome kitty and we can't understand why he's been overlooked. He's currently about 7 months old Brandon is absolutely adorable, a silver tabby with swirls instead of stripes, and an absolute love! Brandon loves to play with the kittens in our community room, but also loves to crawl up into a lap with a loud rumbly purr. He's always the first to greet staff and volunteers and loves to be the center of attention. If you are looking for some love and fun in your life, Brandon might just be right for you. He's friendly, confident, adorable, and loving - what more could you ask for? If you can offer a safe indoor home for Brandon (and maybe his sister Blair) please submit a cat application online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to let us know to be on the lookout. Story
Meet Butterscotch Butterscotch is the first of our "Candy" kittens who were found abandoned and fighting for life. Butterscotch is a pale orange ginger cat who is just so sweet! He's a little on the quiet side but we've seen great improvement in his confidence. He loves his siblings and the other kittens in the kitten room and would be great with one of his buddies, or to a home that already has a friendly cat. Like so many of our quieter kittens, we are sure Butterscotch will thrive once he's in a calm home. If you can offer a safe indoor home for Butterscotch, and maybe one of his buddies, please submit a cat application from the homepage of our website www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to verify that we received your application. . Story
Meet Sawyer (and Sterling) In rescue there is great joy and great heartache… and sometimes these two emotions come with the same story. Two years ago Sterling and Sawyer were adopted together as kittens. We were overjoyed at their good fortune. The brothers loved each other and their hooman mama. She took great care of them and they were happy cats. Sadly, their mama died recently. Her caregiver took care of the boys after their mama passed but is unable to keep them. Thankfully, she called us to see if we could take them back. Of course we will! Once a Smithgall family member always a Smithgall family member. The boys took a while to decompress but are now showing us the sunny personality we remember from when they were kittens. They are both on the larger side, but Sawyer is the smaller of the two, and has developed just as much confidence as his brother. Sawyer has come out of his safe hiding spot and welcomes any attention he can get. He gives sweet kitty hugs and he's always the first to greet guests to the community cat room and jump into a willing lap (usually he has to share the lap with his brother Sterling). We can tell he and his brother are going to be wonderful family members. These big, beautiful boys (almost identical twins) are being so brave and have everyone charmed. We will continue to love them but we hope someone will see their story and apply to give them a loving home. We would love them to go home together but they have shown an Independence that makes us think they will do just fine separated if that means they go to a loving home. Sterling and Sawyer will transition easily into a new home once they feel loved. If you love big, warm cuddle bugs on a cold winter day, Sawyer is just the cat for you. If you’re able to give Sawyer (and maybe Sterling) a loving furever home, please submit a cat application from our website www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to verify that we received your application.
