Story
An AALOC team member found Dustin hanging out front. Dustin must have been feeding on the cat food left out on the AALOC porch, but the street is nowhere to live. So, the team member trapped Dustin and brought him inside for his safety. Dustin was very timid when he first arrived at AALOC, but the socialization provided by our volunteers has really made a difference in his demeanor. He still takes a bit of time to trust new people but once he has come around Dustin loves to play with wand toys and chase them. He’ll also brush along your legs and ask for pets. Dustin would do well in a quieter environment with someone who has the patience to allow him a little time to build a relationship with his new owner. Once he gets to know you Dustin is really an amazing cat! Please apply to adopt Dustin at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Dustin and get to know him a bit. Donation of $100 for cat adoption includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit. We adopt to residents of Orange County, CA and surrounding areas. Please note: For families with children, we require children to be 10 years of age or older, although exceptions are made depending on the circumstances. For more information on adoption policies visit our cat adoption page at www.aaloc.org. Contact us by e-mail at aaloc@aaloc.org.

Story
A volunteer was driving in Westminster and came across a cardboard box sitting underneath a parked truck with three kittens inside. A concerned neighbor had been feeding the kittens for a few weeks while trying to find them somewhere to go with no luck. He said the mother cat had been hit by a car a couple weeks earlier, and her kittens were left. All three kittens were out in the freezing, cold rain trying to fend for themselves. Unfortunately, this compassionate neighbor had too many animals to adopt them himself. Our vet confirmed they all had mites, mange, and giardia. All three issues have been successfully cured and Marco, Polo and Poly are ready to find new homes. Marco, an orange and white tabby, is a very friendly cat. He enjoys playing with toys and is quick to make new human friends. He tends to be Poly’s caretaker and adopting Marco and Poly together would be incredible. They would complement each other and be best friends for life. Please apply to adopt Marco at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Marco and get to know him a bit. Story
Dinos, Dimitri, Drea, and Daphne were brought to AALOC by a couple. They set the crate with the kittens down and ran off. The kittens were just three weeks old. They were all hypothermic and malnourished, but Dinos was in the worst shape. Our team was able to stabilize them all and found a wonderful bottle feeding foster. They all survived and are ready now to find new homes. Daphne is the strongest and bravest of her litter. Like many mackerel tabbies she is a true explorer and likes to be involved in anything that is happening. She excelled extremely fast and seems very intelligent and affectionate. Please apply to adopt Daphne at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Daphne and get to know her a bit. A volunteer pulled up to the kennel one morning and found a carrier that had been left on the doorstep with three male kittens inside. All the kittens looked healthy, as if someone had been taking good care of them but for reasons unknown could no longer keep the kittens. There was no note; the only item left with the kittens was a single can of cat food. George is a strikingly good-looking brown and black mackerel tabby, with golden eyes and an orange button nose. Smart and curious, George would make a very good best friend. Please apply to adopt George at www.AALOC.org. Paul’s pink nose is a bit big for his face, giving him an interesting look that matches his personality. White socks on all four paws and a snowy white belly complete his appearance. Paul’s coat is medium length; it will require regular brushings to keep him in the best of health. Please apply to adopt Paul at www.AALOC.org. Story
Sunshine is pretty special ed. 😁 He was a previously TNR'd colony cat from La Puente. He disappeared for two years and then showed up again near a colony close by. He had been thrown in the trash. He was hardly moving and he was completely jaundiced from gosh knows what. He was so weak that he needed an esophageal feeding tube to deliver nutrients to him while he gained strength. Cats are abused and treated like garbage around those parts and it is no wonder how he is able to trust people at all. This guy was different. Even in his dying stages he wanted to be petted on his head So weak, but able to lift his head for headbutts. He deserved a chance. He was resilient and although his recovery was long it was completely worth it. He's an indoor boy. Enjoys his toys like a kitten (probably because it is the first time in his life that he can play with toys). He has slowly been gaining trust and would love an opportunity to have an owner. While he is not a cat that will cuddle with you in bed, he has gotten the courage to sit with you on the couch to get petted. He's very silly, pretends he's feral sometimes, and probably a little retarded. He can't help the circumstances he was forced to live. We want better for him. He is a unique young man who would love to be someone's companion. Sunshine is being adopted through the San Gabriel Valley Animal Advocates. If you are interested in adopting Sunshine, please submit an application at http://www.sgvaa.org/pre-adoption-questionnaire.html and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Your adoption donation allows us to rescue the next kitty from the streets and pay for all their health and medical needs. Most of our adoptable pets live in loving foster homes. We can arrange meet-and-greets with our foster families, at our live-in habitats in the West Covina and El Monte Petcos, as well as at the Huntington Beach (Edinger) PetSmart. SGVAA is an all-volunteer, non-profit rescue organization serving the San Gabriel Valley area. For more information on how you can help your community, please visit: www.sgvaa.org Their Adoption Process If you are interested in any of our adoptable pets or have additional questions, please fill out an adoption application and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Since we are an all-volunteer organization, it may take us within 24-48 hours to respond. Our little fur babies are so adorable that sometimes we get multiple applications for one pet! So if the pet you are interested in is no longer available there is no need to worry! We have plenty of friends who are furry! As part of the adoption process, we screen each new potential owner, and do home visits to ensure that an animal and owner are a good match. Once your adoption application has been approved, we will have you fill out a Pet Promise Certificate (adoption contract) *SGVAA’s adoption donation allows us to rescue the next kitty from the streets and pay for all of their health and welfare needs (spay, neuter, shots, deworming, flea meds, microchip) *We also provide free home delivery of your new kitty/kitties! About This Rescue SGVAA is dedicated to the protection and humane treatment of pets in the San Gabriel Valley area. We encourage people to rescue a homeless animal instead of buying one. Our organization also educates the community on the importance of early vaccinations for fatal and easily preventable diseases. We also advocate spaying or neutering to reduce pet overpopulation. Once an animal is in our care we vaccinate all rescues against disease & provide needed health care, fight pet overpopulation by spaying or neutering all rescues, and provide lifetime shelter and care to any rescued animal that is not adopted. Come Meet Their Pets Most of our adoptable pets live in loving foster homes. For interested adopters, we can arrange meet-and-greets with our foster families, at our live-in habitats in the West Covina and El Monte Petcos, as well as at the Huntington Beach (Edinger) Petsmart.
