Story
An AALOC team member found Dustin hanging out front. Dustin must have been feeding on the cat food left out on the AALOC porch, but the street is nowhere to live. So, the team member trapped Dustin and brought him inside for his safety. Dustin was very timid when he first arrived at AALOC, but the socialization provided by our volunteers has really made a difference in his demeanor. He still takes a bit of time to trust new people but once he has come around Dustin loves to play with wand toys and chase them. He’ll also brush along your legs and ask for pets. Dustin would do well in a quieter environment with someone who has the patience to allow him a little time to build a relationship with his new owner. Once he gets to know you Dustin is really an amazing cat! Please apply to adopt Dustin at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Dustin and get to know him a bit. Donation of $100 for cat adoption includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit. We adopt to residents of Orange County, CA and surrounding areas. Please note: For families with children, we require children to be 10 years of age or older, although exceptions are made depending on the circumstances. For more information on adoption policies visit our cat adoption page at www.aaloc.org. Contact us by e-mail at aaloc@aaloc.org.

Story
A volunteer was driving in Westminster and came across a cardboard box sitting underneath a parked truck with three kittens inside. A concerned neighbor had been feeding the kittens for a few weeks while trying to find them somewhere to go with no luck. He said the mother cat had been hit by a car a couple weeks earlier, and her kittens were left. All three kittens were out in the freezing, cold rain trying to fend for themselves. Unfortunately, this compassionate neighbor had too many animals to adopt them himself. Our vet confirmed they all had mites, mange, and giardia. All three issues have been successfully cured and Marco, Polo and Poly are ready to find new homes. Marco, an orange and white tabby, is a very friendly cat. He enjoys playing with toys and is quick to make new human friends. He tends to be Poly’s caretaker and adopting Marco and Poly together would be incredible. They would complement each other and be best friends for life. Please apply to adopt Marco at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Marco and get to know him a bit. Story
Dinos, Dimitri, Drea, and Daphne were brought to AALOC by a couple. They set the crate with the kittens down and ran off. The kittens were just three weeks old. They were all hypothermic and malnourished, but Dinos was in the worst shape. Our team was able to stabilize them all and found a wonderful bottle feeding foster. They all survived and are ready now to find new homes. Daphne is the strongest and bravest of her litter. Like many mackerel tabbies she is a true explorer and likes to be involved in anything that is happening. She excelled extremely fast and seems very intelligent and affectionate. Please apply to adopt Daphne at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Daphne and get to know her a bit. Story
A volunteer pulled up to the kennel one morning and found a carrier that had been left on the doorstep with three male kittens inside. All the kittens looked healthy, as if someone had been taking good care of them but for reasons unknown could no longer keep the kittens. There was no note; the only item left with the kittens was a single can of cat food. George is a strikingly good-looking brown and black mackerel tabby, with golden eyes and an orange button nose. Smart and curious, George would make a very good best friend. Please apply to adopt George at www.AALOC.org. There was no note; the only item left with the kittens was a single can of cat food. Paul is a black and white tuxedo cat. He is a very handsome feline, just like his namesake. Paul’s pink nose is a bit big for his face, giving him an interesting look that matches his personality. White socks on all four paws and a snowy white belly complete his appearance. Paul’s coat is medium length; it will require regular brushings to keep him in the best of health. Please apply to adopt Paul at www.AALOC.org. Story
DOB 3/29/21 Meet our bouncing Bungee boy! Sweet Bungee is a bundle of fun and energy, and he literally bounces around! His congenital defects have caused deformity in his spine, but he has found a way to survive, thrive, and make life as adventurous as possible! Bungee is a ball of energy! He loves to play and explore but also gives the best cuddles! This handsome boy can hold his ground and gets into his fair share of shenanigans! Bungee is able to wear a diaper quite easily because he has no tail! But he will have to be expressed at least 2 x a day. It is not difficult to learn and we will be right there to teach you, and to help whenever you have concerns. Story
Meet Tootles, our extraordinary orange boy with a heart of gold! He is such a happy guy: he adores cuddling up with people and engaging in playful antics with his feline companions. Tootles is our Minister of Silly Walks due to his minor rear limb deformities. Despite this, he’s a bit of a daredevil, scooting and jumping all around his foster home with his friends! In addition to his congenital leg deformities, Tootles’ eyelids did not form correctly, which just means he sometimes has a charming squint! He has received thorough vetting and regular checkups from specialists who agree he's healthy and ready for a loving forever home. With a few simple modifications (e.g. cat trees to help him climb) and monitoring for signs of arthritis, this amazing boy will thrive in an environment filled with love and care. Tootles would also do best with a playmate–if there isn’t already a cat at your house, he grew up with the other adoptable HOBC cats, and would love to bring one of his lifelong friends home with him! Cats with special needs like Tootles require a little more attention and consideration than the average cat, and we want to ensure that you and Tootles will be an excellent match! When you’re ready, please fill out our adoption application! Send to houseofbrokencookies@gmail.com. From there, we will contact you for a phone interview, and to arrange a meet-and-greet. We are confident Tootles will be a cherished member of your family! Prior to adoption, all cats have the following services: *Spay or Neuter *3 in 1 Vaccination *De-wormed *Treated for fleas *Tested for FIV/FELV *Micro-Chipped

Story
DOB 3/22/23 Poppy is the fearless firecracker of the House of Broken Cookies! She’s one-in-a-million because wears her heart on her sleeve: she was born with a rare floating sternum, which means her heart is not fully covered in her chest, and you can actually see it beating when she’s belly-up! We’ve tried to protect her with shirts with sheepskin “armor” built in, but Poppy decided she’s too cool for clothes, and she does really well regardless! She is also very adventurous and food-motivated–she loves treat puzzles. She is the best of friends with people and other cats alike–are you next? Poppy is fully vetted and monitored by specialists, who agree that she doesn’t need surgery to anchor her sternum since she is managing perfectly as is! She is also a bit of a troublemaker since she’s still so young: Poppy chews on strings of all kinds regardless of what they are attached to, so her ideal home will need to be conscious of that. Poppy would be happy as an only cat, or with a very gentle companion, since roughhousing may be dangerous for her heart. If you don’t have a cat already, Poppy grew up with the other adoptable HOBC cats, and would love the chance to bring one of her lifelong friends home with her! Cats with special needs like Poppy’s require more consideration than the average cat, and we want to ensure that you and Poppy will be an excellent match! Prior to adoption, all cats have the following services: *Spay or Neuter *3 in 1 Vaccination *De-wormed *Treated for fleas *Tested for FIV/FELV *Micro-Chipped
