Story
This lady was found wondering in a neighborhood. No one claimed her so she was brought to us. She is a sweet, sweet dog. Very friendly, likes to play and loves attention. She gets along with other dogs but would probably prefer to be the only one, or with one other. She is with a group of pups now and likes to have her own space. She may be house trained but we aren't sure. She does well on a leash and good in a car. She will need regular grooming per her breed mix. She is just a wonderful dog that would do well with any family. A yard is not necessary for her but some outside play and walks are. She is a favorite and we know a family is out there for her. She is located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders

Story
Meet Socrates, a lovable 5-month-old scruffy mixed breed (Schnauzer? Poodle? We don't know!) who's full of playful energy and affection. This goofy fluffball is as sweet as they come, and he loves being around people and other dogs. Socrates is a true "velcro dog"—he’s happiest when he’s close to his humans, whether he’s playing tug-of-war or cuddling up on the couch for some cozy snuggles. Socrates is currently working on his house and crate training, and while he’s still a bit wary of the car and the crate, he’s making progress with every day. He’s non-reactive on walks, but as a growing puppy, he’ll need continued work on loose-leash walking to perfect his skills. This smart and curious pup is eager to learn and please, so with a little patience and consistency, he’ll be a star in no time! He’s a playful, wiggly boy who adores running around the yard and playing with his favorite toys. Socrates has a goofy, silly side that will keep you laughing as he bounces around with excitement. Though he’s a social butterfly and loves meeting new people, he’s still working on building his confidence when left alone—but that’s to be expected at his young age. Socrates will thrive in a home where he can continue to learn and grow, surrounded by love, patience, and lots of playtime. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who’s equal parts playful and cuddly, Socrates is ready to be your new best friend! Continued training with GDU (virtual or in person) will be required for adoption. Preference will be given to those that are able to attend our Canine 101 training class in person.  At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##2191075##

Story
Sweet Samuel was a stray at a local rescue before coming to OBG.  We think he is around 8-9 years old and weighs 15 pounds.  Samuel loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home and would enjoy another playful friend or could be a solo pup too.  Samuel likes to "talk" when his foster leaves him alone so isn't ideal for condo-living.   While the shelter listed Samuel as a poodle mix, we think he is a schnauzer-terrier mix. Whatever the breed, he is incredibly cute!  His ideal home is without young children. While he enjoys a fenced yard, Samuel has great walking manners and isn't reactive when he encounters other pups.  Samuel rides quietly in the car too.  He is located in Alexandria, VA.  Please reach out to learn more by emailing us here at: adoptme@cockerspanielrescue.com. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 12, 2024, 3:05 pm
