Story
I don’t know act kind of magic dust, fairy god-mother touch was put on this dog but he is something special! Of course, all dogs are pretty special but Bobby stands out in a big way and for all the right reasons. First off and obviously, he is so stinking cute! The wirey whiskers and the sparkling eyes just did something to me! Second, he is barely out of the puppy months and he is hand-down best described as calm and laid back. If you know that age range for a dog, estimated to be right around 7 months (at the time this was written- end of June, 2024), you know that is rarely what is said about a dog during that phase. Then you add in the attentiveness and affection and you have a, dare I say, perfect dog. I said It and I won’t take it back. Please take a few minutes to watch his video introduction to see his magic in motion then come back to read a bit more about him. Bobby Lee was so fortunate and was fostered in a loving foster home during his formative puppy months and come prepackaged with some great skills, including being house and crate trained! He will need a tour of the potty-places when he arrives home and some support to continue those good habits but what a great head start! Currently Bobby is about 40 lbs and although he is still growing he will only get a bit bigger than he currently is. You are welcome to guess on what breed make-up he is, with rescue that is about all we are doing too, but I am putting my bets on schnauzer/wire haired terrier. The breeds that give grandpa vibes from the beginning of their puppy days all the way through. At his size he believes strongly that he is the perfect lap-dog size and he will try to convince you each and every day. If you are sitting, you have a lap and he wants to join you. If you are watching tv, even better, he is there until the shows over and beyond. Don’t worry though, he understands that if you are at a desk or occupied with a laptop, that your lap is closed, he respects that but will lay around nearby just in case that changes. Basically, he is a lover boy! As if I haven’t said enough good things about Bobby Lee, he is also incredibly social- people and dogs alike! He doesn’t know a stranger and is eager to greet new friends when invited to. With other dogs he is playful without being pushy and reads dogs well, seemingly knowing when a dog is not interested in making a connection or playing. He was even great meeting our house cat! The same gentle respect was shown to the cat and we would say he is cat-tolerant. You want to know the cutest little thing- he is an ice boy! If you have never met or seen one, these are the budget friendly dogs that treat cubes of ice as a treat. Once he hears the ice machine he will be right over to see if he is going to be appreciated for the good boy he is with a “treat.” Imagine always being able to give a treat when asked, no guilt or expense. DREAMY. At his age Bobby is still refining so many of his skills but is off to a great start with basics including sit and walking on leash. Being treat motivated, in this case actual yummies because ice doesn’t travel well for this purpose, he give you his full attention and learns quickly. A very well-behaved, party-trick boy is attainable with this boy. Given he is still young, he will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. His new family will need to support house training in a new space and commit to daily exercise for his mental and physical wellbeing. If Bobby hasn’t already stole your heart maybe you are a cat person, but if he has, apply to adopt him now. I can assure you that this is a dog that will not last long, magic never does. Story
Sweet Trixie was on the euthanasia list in Texas, and we just couldn't let her story end like that! We are now looking for her furever family that will give her all the love. Trixie had a mast cell tumor removed. It may never come back… or it might. There really is no way to know. What we do know is that right now she is a happy lady who loves her humans, has a lot of love to give and brings joy to everyone that meets her! Her life was worth saving. Can you resist her super cute scruffy face? She loves kisses, nuzzling, and snuggling right next to you or on your lap. Her tail wags and she stares into your eyes. If she can't find room on your lap she will lay by your feet just to be near you. She is SO LOVING! Trixie is 6 years old and weighs 47 pounds. She is being fostered in Houston, Texas with another dog - who she loves to play with and share toys with. She loves everyone and every dog! We think she is a schnauzer mix, but we aren’t positive. We just call her our Texas Special, which is the very best breed. One of Trixie’s amazing qualities is that her energy level usually matches the situation. She is mostly laid back, but gets excited when her foster comes home, when she gets to be around other people or dogs and go places. She gets bursts of energy and really wants to play. She tries to engage her housemate (20 pound poodle mix) to play with her, but if the poodle is not interested she will eventually give up, get the zoomies around the house or yard, throw toys in the air, then collapse in exhaustion. It is so cute to watch! She loves to play with her front paws, chase and be chased by other dogs. Trixie could live in a house or an apartment (if she doesn’t have to go up stairs). She rarely barks unless her buddies are barking, but even then she loses interest in barking quickly. Trixie is a smart girl and very food motivated, but don’t worry, she doesn’t counter surf. She knows sit, down (lay down), stay, come, off, up, leave it and her release is "all done". She is working on her leash skills and would love to continue working on them with her forever family. Being so smart and food motivated, she will learn fast. Looking for a friend to grab a morning coffee or take the kids to school? A late night ice cream run? Trixie loves to ride in the car and would be happy to join you anywhere you go. She sits up or lays on the seat quietly enjoying the ride! She is confident, curious and friendly in new situations so she is easy to take places. All heads will turn when they see her, so you will get lots of attention. Trixie has older hips so she isn’t one for long walks, just short adventures please! She has past trauma to her hips that is well healed over. Two doctors have seen her and recommend joint supplements and pain medications for the rest of her life. She can’t climb stairs, jump in the car or take super long walks, but it doesn't slow her down when it comes to playing and running around with other dogs or joining her family at dog friendly restaurants or coffee shops. Potty trained?? 100% She can ring a bell or use a doggie door Crate trained? Trixie is quiet in crate The fosters says she can be left out of the crate 24/7 without incident (no chewing, barking or potty accidents). As a rescue, we do ask you to crate her for a while until she is acclimated to her new home. Although Trixie does not live with cats, she has been around cats and tried to play with them. The cat wasn't thrilled… but she tried. We believe she could live with cats if she had proper introductions and training. If Trixie sounds like the perfect dog for your family, please apply for her here so we can see if you are a great match.
