Story
Meet Murphy, a sweet and affectionate active 3 month old Schnauzer mix, very playful, very friendly. Doing really great with housebreaking skills, but has not spent a lot of time on leash yet. This litter was dumped in the middle of the road when they were about 6 weeks old and rescued by a good hearted person who kept them safe and wonderfully social until she could find rescue. They are expected to be about 40-50 pound dogs. PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us. The adoption fee is $425, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. Puppies under 6 months of age may go to adoptive homes before they are spayed/neutered with a spay/neuter contract. Adopters who choose to adopt a puppy that has not yet been spayed/neutered are subject to an additional deposit of $100 (refundable upon proof of spay/neuter prior to the contracted date.) Included in the adoption fee, the rescue will arrange spay/neuter by a partner vet at a predetermined appointment when the puppy is between 7-9 months of age. It is the responsibility of the adopter to bring the adopted puppy back to the rescue vet for spaying/neutering or, if they choose, to send verification from their own vet (at the adopter's own cost) that the puppy had been spayed/neutered. All of our dogs will be microchipped. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on "Adopt" tab at top We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment

Please contact Melissa A Aten (melissaa@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Scruffy Faced Hipster LUCY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:  Lucy            Best Guess for Breed:  Schnauzer/Lab       Best Guess for Age:  8 months as of Dec. 2024            SEX:  Female   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):  24bs as of 12/27   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen Lucy with cats or kids but she can be tested.   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs DC-area foster or forever home.   Special Adoption Considerations:  Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Lucy would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. Lucy is Looking For: Hiya! I'm Lucy! Me and my littermates, Lena, Legend, Leo, Lucile & Loki, have loved our time together, but we are each ready to pack our bags and find our very own forever home! I'm looking for a home that will let me play with toys and get my puppy zoomies out and give me snuggles in between playtimes. I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for me?       What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon! Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $465, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
