Story
I don’t know act kind of magic-dust/fairy god-mother touch was put on this dog but she is something special! Of course, all dogs are pretty special but Amelia stand out in a big way and for all the right reasons. First off and obviously, she is so stinking cute! The wirey whiskers and the sparkling eyes just did something to me! Second, she is a lover of all the best things- kids, stuffie toys, kisses, a snuggle-sesh, and treats! She is hands-down best described as happy -go-lucky, a friendly-family-girl, gentle and calm. Add in how attentive and friendly she is and you have a, dare I say, perfect dog! I said It and I won’t take it back. Take a look for yourself https://youtu.be/N_3MBZ9jJZ4 Amelia is estimated to be 1.5 years old and weighs an adorable 31 lbs! You are welcome to guess on what breed make-up she is, with rescue that is about all we are doing too, but I am putting my bets on schnauzer/wire-haired terrier/poodle. The breeds that give chill grandpa/ma vibes from the beginning of their puppy days and all the way through. At her size she believes strongly that she is the perfect lap-dog size and we agree. As if I haven’t said enough good things about Amelia, she is also so friendly- people and dogs alike! She doesn’t know a stranger and is eager to greet new friends when invited to. With other dogs she is friendly without being overly-eager. She enjoys the company of other dogs but does not seem to be the type to start the play session. People and toys are where her heart is. She was even great meeting our house cat! The same gentle respect was shown to the cat and we would say she is cat-tolerant and would be a peaceful companion to a feline friend. Amelia has some great basic skills on top of her sweet personality. She is off to a great start knowing sit and walking well on leash. A small thing, but one we love to see is that she will sit patiently when a toy is being held, even by a little one without being jumpy or impatient. Her toy release is so polite and we can see she is just shy of having fully mastered fetch. An important detail that will serve in future training is how treat motivated she is. She loves a treat! She will offer her full attention even without one but adding them in will speed her learning of whatever skills you want to teach. She is already quiet the catch but imaging adding a few party-tricks to her cuteness, yall are going to be a hit together! Has Amelia stole your heart yet? Yes? Us too! Apply to adopt her now, we can assure you that this is a dog that will not last long, magic rarely does. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6736541fa252fe5bb9032587 Questions? Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded. It doesn’t stop there! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
