RESCUE STORY - I was originally a family pet, however my "family" gave me up when they had a child. I didn't do anything to deserve this, they just decided they didn't want me anymore. Luckily, I was rescued just in time and didn't end up spending time homeless on the streets! I was brought to La Casa del Mestizo shelter, located in Mexico City. I was quite malnourished when I was first rescued but was otherwise a healthy boy. I have gotten back to a healthier weight since being at the shelter and am sooo ready to find my forever home in the Pacific Northwest!
TEMPERAMENT - I am a very friendly, joy-filled boy. I'm a playful companion who is eager to grasp any opportunity to be taken out on walks or play with anybody!! I'm friendly at first sight, not really shy, and boy do I LOVE cuddles. My rescuer describes me as a dog who just puts everbody around him in a good mood, hehe :) I currently sleep inside a crate at night-- the door is open but I choose to sleep inside with my cuddle buddy, a mixed pitbull. I am definitely a snuggler! I am super friendly and very affectionate with hoomans and just love, LOVE! I get along with all the dogs at the shelter and am a good playmate. I am looking for a new family where I can be loved like I deserve. Along with lots of love, I'll need leadership and boundaries (same with all dogs) in order to truly flourish! My favorite snacks are chicken, apples, and carrots. Yum! I have been practicing walking through busy places (video) and have been working towards my very best self! I feel so ready to come to my forever home and continue to thrive!
ENERGY LEVEL - Moderate. I have prety medium energy - I play hard but I crash hard too! Once I've had a walk and play sesh, I love to relax and take naps. I usually go to bed at 9 pm!

As with ALL dogs, I should be supervised around children. My humans need to advocate for my space and make sure I'm respeupcted :)
Dogs – Yes! I get along with the doggies at the shelter, big and small. I am a good boy when meeting dogs on the streets too (video)
Cats – Unknown
PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.
TRAINING:
Leash skills – I love walkies! (video) I am a pretty good walker on leash and I don't show any signs of reactivity towards people, dogs, cars (video), cats, or bikes (although it's not uncommon for pups to struggle with reactivity after the stressful journey north). I'd love an adopter who can patiently help be learn perfect leash manners!
House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)
Car rides – Unknown

HEALTH NOTES:
I am neutered and vaccinated. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Brucellosis, Parvo, Distemper, and Heartworm before flying North.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
ADOPTION FEE:
My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
