Story
This sweet boy is named Bailey. He's a Schnauzer mix of 9 months weighing 38 puppy pounds and will mature to between 45 and 50 pounds. He's a good boy who is very active and loves going on walks, playing outside and playing with all and every toy he can find. Perhaps most importantly is that he's a loving fella with a heart of canine gold. (posted 12/21/25, ME) Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $160.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. **December 21, 2025, 1:02 pm

Story
UPDATE!!  Meet Prince. He and his siblings came to us from a local overcrowded shelter. They are adorable little doodle mixes. They are 5-6 months old and 11-13 lbs. They were little timid but have really come out of their shell in flag care and are very sweet. They do well with all people and all animals. They are utd, altered and  Ready for their forever homes.  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $195 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $145 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you! Story
Whiskey is a 2-year-old female possible Schnauzer/Bearded Collie mix who has already been spayed. Her breed is a bit of a mystery to us. She was brought in as a stray after she just wandered up in someone's yard and never left! Whiskey's coat is black with white around her muzzle and chin.  Whiskey weighs 52 pounds so she is considered to be a medium sized adult dog. When she first came to PAHS she was a bit 'growly' until she learned to trust our staff. Whiskey would be good with older children. If you have another dog; we would suggest a meet and greet with your dog.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75.  All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter.  Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under 'special needs' our dogs have screened heart worm negative.  September 26, 2025, 9:36 pm
