Story
If you are looking for the perfect senior dog - look no further - because Leo is your boy - absolutely precious little guy that came to us along with 11 others from a horrible hoarding situation where they were all terribly neglected - we could not even tell if they were male or females - they were all matted so bad. Yes Leo is hard of hearing and has limited vision but you don't have to go through the puppy training or the destructive teenage years - he is just looking for some good company that would enjoy his company and someone that will love him through his golden years Here is what Leo's foster Dad had to say about him: Leo is a sweet little man who enjoys spending his days napping. He has some vision and hearing problems that keep him from playing or running around. He would rather just lay on the couch with his human and receive some pets. These vision problems don’t seem to keep him from finding his food bowl, this boy loves to eat. Leo seems to be housebroken and has not had any accidents in his foster home. He walks well on a leash but is slow due to his vision problems. Leo would fit in well in a quiet home. Someone who would just let him take his naps and enjoy a soft bed and some much deserved pets and love. Leo has been neutered and had extensive dental work done that was much needed, he has had a senior bloodwork panel done and everything is great, he is vaccinated, heartworm tested and current on prevention, dewormed and microchipped His adoption fee is 250.00 - if you are interested in Leo - please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption applications - WE DO NOT SET UP MEET AND GREETS UNTIL THE APPLICATION HAS BEEN FILLED OUT AND REVIEWED - WE DO VET REFERENCES AND HOME VISITS Age is just a number and this boy has so much more love to give and is ready to find a family to call his own and he so deserves that

Buzz is house trained and has been excellent with other dogs He is great on a leash and loves to be by your side He's been passed around and seems to have had a rough start at life. He is underweight, but that's an easy fix, and seems happy and healthy otherwise. Vet check and neuter is coming up soon!!

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 2/1/2022 Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Posh is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 02/09/22 Posh had entropion repair on his lower eyelid. He also had a dental polishing and a deep ear cleaning. Posh can be prone to ear infections. Keeping his ears clean is imperative.  Weight: 45 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Posh is an active dog that has had a lot of change over the last 8 months. He needs stability and patience and continued socialization. Posh is an alpha male and needs an owner that will commit to positive reinforcement training and redirection of behaviors. Posh prefers women to men so an alpha female owner is his ideal home. Posh could live with other dogs (he always has) or be the only dog. Posh is not good with children and will not be placed in a home with children. He requires SLOW introductions to new people. What is my personality like? Posh and his brother Hans were the beloved companions of a single professional. Sadly, significant health challenges made caring for Posh impossible and he was surrendered to rescue to help him find the right forever home.  Posh's owner describes him as a a big, happy love bug - he thinks he is a toy poodle lap dog! He loves to give big hugs and kisses. Posh is not fond of the vet or of grooming but with lots of gentle persuasion it can be managed.  Here is what our caregivers say about this beautiful boy. Posh is a sweet boy that is looking for a mama. The reason I say “mama” is because posh takes direction from women very easily where as he is a little slower to warm up with men. He needs someone that can keep him in line. He is all boy! Posh does well with other dogs; he enjoys the company of dogs his size. Occasionally when he’s over stimulated you’ll have to correct him and let him know he’s being a little too much. Posh is not the best with strangers - you have to buy this boy's love with treats and patience. He does not appreciate being approached without permission and will let you now his displeasure. Posh slightly pulls on a leash and will need some leash training. He would excel at any type of positive reinforcement training as he is very intelligent. Posh loves belly rubs and does very good about keeping his crate clean. It is required posh have a crate in the home this will help his transition to a new environment as well as give him a place to retreat to when he’s feeling overwhelmed. How do I act when I first meet new people? A little timid, but incredibly treat motivated Other tips and tidbits: Posh is 3.5 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 2/1/2019. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Loki is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.  Weight: 57 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Loki requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Loki is looking for a kid-free, laid-back home. Loki thinks a home in a quiet neighborhood with walking trails nearby would be delightful to live in. Loki would happily spend hours sunbathing and roaming his backyard with a quiet retired couple. He is ideally looking for a home as an only dog simply because he loves to soak up all the attention. Loki does not enjoy being in a crate but does need to eat in a crate due to slight resource guarding of his food. This can absolutely be resolved with time and positive reinforcement training. His home will need to accept him despite this minor quirk, we encourage potential adopters to research on this before applying to adopt Loki. Loki is going to fall into place in any standard poodle lovers' home. What is my personality like? Loki is an utter lovebug. More often than not he is found hugging his caregivers. He adores being the center of attention. Loki is phenomenal on leash and would be an ideal strolling companion. Loki is great with dogs of his size; he frequently is caught playing with other standards. He would not be ideal for small dogs or cats frequently in the home but could walk past them on a leash in the neighborhood. Loki can be shy and uncertain with new strangers from time to time. Give him a few minutes to observe and then start offering treats to him. He warms up fast and once he does, there is no going back with his love. He gives unconditional love to his human and wants to have a forever bond with his very own family.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Shy at first but quickly warms up to someone who knows and understands dogs well.  Other tips and tidbits: Loki was estimated at 4.5 years old. We celebrate his birthday 7/19/2019. House trained? Clifford is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. In July 2023 Clifford had a dental with extractions. Clifford arrived in rescue with severe, prolonged ear infections. Weight: 61 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Clifford requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller What kind of home would be best for me? Clifford is a lover of romance novels. He has to be, because he absolutely loves a slow burn love story. He loves when someone chases after him for his affection. Call him a little selfish but he loves making life all about him. In the most selfless ways too. From bashful glances across the play yards to subtle sniffs at your hand when you walk past him. Clifford yearns for a family that will give him time, and just like those romance novels; He “just needs to make sure he’s ready for the commitment.” He is, he just loves to play hard to get. Call it his hobby. Who can blame him when he is as stunning as he is!  But - Clifford has a weakness, just like most main characters - Treats! Clifford loves food! As a big boy Clifford loves a good snack or meal for that matter. Pull out those treats and well, Clifford is suddenly ready to commit. The moment the smell of bacon hits the air he’s sold. He will approach you with a coy step before delicately taking the treat from you. Clifford is looking for a gentle caring love. Something real and unconditional. He has a modesty about him that he doesn’t wear on his sleeve and trust when we say he’s diligent about who he shows. Clifford is an independent gentleman, but regardless of his lack of copious friend groups Clifford needs a furry companion in the home. Another dog that can show him the ropes and teach him what it’s like to live that luxury lifestyle he craves. What is my personality like? Clifford is regal, dignified you could say, and he knows it. Clifford has a meticulousness about him that can become a sort of game when getting him to really show his true personality. He plays for the big wins for sure, setting down the right calls at the perfect time. He knows how to play his cards, and he plays them sparingly. He doesn’t look for guidance as much as he looks for someone just as distinguished as him. He has a leader deep inside that is bursting at the seams of his heart. Waiting patiently for the perfect person to appear in his life so he can bravely step into his new role as your best friend.   How do I act when I first meet new people?  Clifford has made tremendous progress at CPR and through our time and effort Clifford has become a beautifully curious boy. In new situations Clifford maintains face. Always calm and collected, even if inside he feels a little sheepish. However, that all changes the moment treats are presented. At the crinkle of a bag or the unzip of a Ziplock bag Clifford is slinking his way towards you and stretching his neck out for even a mere sniff of that baked goodness. He will walk over to you with a sway in his step before giving the sweetest eyes. He will take his treat and promptly ask for another. Congratulations you have become a treat jar, Clifford is your best friend. From there he will allow gentle pets and sweet words. The rest will be history. Other tips and tidbits: Clifford is estimated at 6 years old. We celebrate his birthday 07/06/2017. House trained? Clifford is clean in his crate! Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Weight: 51.2 lbs Height: 24 in at the shoulder est Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Finn requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Finn initially was believed to be a follower, however in his months here with us we have seen a leader buried deep beneath the scars of past let downs. He is powerful and determined in a group and we know Finn needs another dog in the home. A dog he can learn from and officially become the leader of. Finn is very much 'the student becomes the teacher' type. He requires teaching before blossoming, but once he had open up he is a fun free spirited individual with the capacity to teach you something! Finn loves to play in the right setting and once he has found his click, he runs with the best of them! Finn would love hikes and jogs with a furry companion to first show him what to do. Once he learns you better watch out, we're not sure you could keep up!  Finn loves big dogs, and he is a big boy. Finn plays much better with bigger dogs and would appreciate a bigger friend in the house. He is most comfortable with dogs 40lbs and above. Anything smaller and Finn just doesn't understand how to play with them. He has big brother ideas of rough housing and wrestling that are a little too much for his smaller counter parts. Finn had yet to be cat tested, we assume no cats would be a better option for him. What is my personality like? Finn is a tall and handsome guy man! His ability to charm surpasses any other dogs, but he has a mysterious air to him. He will reel you in with his good looks before dashing off as if he never once asked you to come over. He's a sucker for a slow burn love story, and he loves to be chased after. Not literally, but if you have ever laid your eyes on a romance novel or watched a Hallmark movie, you get the picture. Finn is young and like a lot of young people he is not exactly sure what he wants, or about anything for that matter. He loves guidance, there is a leader deep inside of Finn he simply needs that push to break him out of his shell! Finn has a heart of gold and he offers it sparingly. Though young he knows the burn of a broken-heart and he is not keen on getting another. His charm draws you in, but he believes in 'actions speak louder than words.' Something we all can relate to, and with his understanding of all things human Finn is intelligent! Learning with the speed of light. He is working on his 'sit' queue and has almost mastered 'wait' when going through thresholds. Finn understands a leash but does best with a confident and strong mentor that can show him how its really supposed to work. How do I act when I first meet new people? Finn is in this for the long haul, and if you know anything about winning a potential love interest over well Finn is no different. With a 'catch me if you can' attitude Finn shows a more bashful side once roped in. Choosing to float around the idea of love it takes him just a bit to fall into your arms and be swayed. However, like most hard-to-get types once he is there you just can't peel him off. Like you would want too anyways, he shows a sweet and loving side once he is comfy and with looks like his you should be proud, he's as attached to you as he is.  Other tips and tidbits: Finn's date of birth is 6/7/2023.   House trained? Finn is clean in his crate, but has never lived crate free in a home and will need guidance here. Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
