Story
Meet Blitz, a sweet boy, about two years old, pulled out of a huge high kill pound a day before his time was up. A poodle mix with a mohawk down the center-you will have fun guessing what else he is. Seems to not shed and will likely need occasional grooming. Blitz is about 28-30 pounds, a bit low to the ground, and is a loving guy who lives to please his foster mom. Fostered with dogs of various sizes including a chihuahua and gets along with all, Playful as well. Not sure about cats-he wants to chase them but doesn't seem to want to hurt them so may do fine with a cat who sets the rules. Housebroken-the crate isn't his favorite place but he tolerates it. As so many rescue dogs, he may be nervous for the first minute or so, but with a treat and a kind word, he is your best friend very quickly. PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us. The adoption fee is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. All of our dogs will be microchipped. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on "Adopt" tab at top We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment

Story
Travis is a fun, lovable, and energetic 11 month old Poodle mix! He was found as a stray on the side of the road in Philly and is pretty new to the DC scene. He enjoys treats, cuddles, and most of all TONSSS of exercise. Travis’s energy can be a bit much if he’s not tired out through exercise or extensive play time throughout the day. He’s not aggressive at all, but bores easily so may find something to chew on like tissue or carpet. He has a hard time with toys since he is still teething, he destroy them immediately and swallows them. He’s great with kids & other pets, but beware of his jumping onto others especially strangers. No matter the height or age, he will jump on you out of excitement. When he’s on a walk he tends to pull a lot so he needs a retractable leash. Overall, Travis would be best fitted for a home with a spacious yard and someone who can dedicate a lot of time to him & sadly I do not have the time or resources to do such.
