Story
Meet Curly! He is an 11 months old, 40 lb poodle mix who is very sweet and friendly. He is very playful and loves to play with other dogs. He is getting used to his crate but doesn't like to be left alone for very long. He knows how to sit and is very motivated with treats. He is very smart and will be easy to train. He is still growing and has a lot of puppy energy but also loves to sleep in your lap. He gets very excited and likes to jump so we are working better manners. Curly is very vocal so you will know when someone is at the door! He is great with kids and very gentle when taking treats. He is doing great going potty outside but needs to be let out often. Curly will be such a sweet, cuddly family dog. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Say HELLO to Maverick! Mavvy, as he is affectionately called, is the ultimate Standard Poodle! Smart, active, loving, loyal, and a touch stubborn….just like any self respecting Standard Poodle should be!  Maverick is just over 2 years old and about 60 lbs. He’s great with dogs of all sizes, house trained, and crate trained. He’s looking for a tried and true Standard Poodle family who loves a good Velcro dog. This boy loves to be right by his person’s side - he gives the best hugs! Mavvy’s favorite time of day is bedtime because that means he gets to cuddle up in bed next to his person all night long - sleeping in bed is non-negotiable as far as Maverick is concerned.  Are you a Standard Poodle person looking for your new BFF? Meet Tiggy!  Tiggy has had what was undoubtedly the BEST Christmas of her life with her foster family! But now that the New Year is quickly approaching, it’s time to get serious and find this girl her very own Forever Family!  Tiggy is a 2-3 year old Standard Poodle, although she is a bit on the smaller side at not even 40 lbs. She’s great with all dogs and cats but her  true love is definitely her person! Tiggy is looking for a tried and true Standard Poodle person, with another playful dog in the home, and a fenced yard to run and play in. Interested in adopting? Meet Teagan!  Earlier in the year we rescued Tate and Truman, 2 standard poodles, along with a poodle mix puppy from Upson County after they had been surrendered to animal control. A couple of weeks ago, we found out the same family had just surrendered 3 more standard poodles. We really take the “You don’t leave family behind” philosophy seriously, so even though it had been months since we saved the first group and we REALLY don’t have room for more dogs - we knew we had to save these guys! Teller was in the worst shape. He was completely matted and caked in mud. And his poor eyes so infected. It took hours to get him cleaned up. If you’ve ever had to shave down a severely matted dog, you’ll know it’s very similar to sheering a sheep - the hair just comes off in one huge piece. Thankfully, the girls Tiggy and Teagan, had been groomed before at some point and were in much better shape.  Our unconfirmed theory is that Teagan (grey) is mom to Teller (black) and Tiggy (blonde). Teller and Tiggy both appear to be about a year old so we think they are probably littermates. Teagan is about 2-3 years old - still young herself. All three of these amazing poodles are super super sweet; great with dogs of all sizes; and cats!! Sweet Teagan was even trying to play with our special little NeuroSpicy girl Sofia on her first night!  These guys are all looking for tried and true Standard Poodle homes. To know poodles is to love them, but these 3 have all been failed by humans once and we won’t let that happen again - so we really do want homes that know all the good, bad, and ugly that comes with having Standard Poodles as family members.
