He's making progress with house training and working through his crate anxiety, as he prefers to be by your side and doesn't like being left alone for too long. His foster family is incredibly proud of him! With some patience and care, Jack will thrive in his forever home, spreading happiness and companionship to his new family. Jack is young and high energy so consideration should be made for his activity level. He also would prefer no feline friends as he tends to think they are his toys! Although Jack only weighs a little over 20 lbs., he is taller than you would expect. Not sure where those long legs came from!

Meet Curly! He is an 11 months old, 40 lb poodle mix who is very sweet and friendly. He is very playful and loves to play with other dogs. He is getting used to his crate but doesn't like to be left alone for very long. He knows how to sit and is very motivated with treats. He is very smart and will be easy to train. He is still growing and has a lot of puppy energy but also loves to sleep in your lap. He gets very excited and likes to jump so we are working better manners. Curly is very vocal so you will know when someone is at the door! He is great with kids and very gentle when taking treats. He is doing great going potty outside but needs to be let out often. Curly will be such a sweet, cuddly family dog. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. She enjoys sunbathing, but doesn't care to be outside by herself for long periods of time. Meemaw would do better in a more calm environment, that will be easy for everyone to adjust to. We are open 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday, we schedule our last adoption at 4pm everyday to allow our staff enough time to feed and walk dogs. We are an animal shelter and therefore are not able to individually potty train our residents. Many adult dogs do arrive “house broken” however due to animal behavior any change in environment will make an emotional impact on the animals and therefore initiate unwanted behaviors during the acclamation period. Please keep this in mind. Puppies do not have the biological maturity to maintain absolute bladder or bowel control and will require a certain degree of potty training and house breaking. Please consider the time and commitment it takes to provide the necessary building blocks for these special babies, prior to submitting your application. Amy is an 8.5-year-old purebred miniature poodle and weighs 15.5 lbs. She was adopted as a puppy, and the adopter took her home and put her in a crate and never took her out. After 16 months the adopter returned her to the breeder underweight, matted, and with really long nails. Due to this, Amy does not do well in a crate unless she can see her human. The groomer Amy sees has crated her with success, but again, Amy has to be able to see her. She loves car rides, toys, and bully sticks. Amy wants nothing more than to be with her human and get love, but after some time in a lap, she will go lay on the floor and nap. She is a social girl and loves all people. She loves taking walks and seeing new people and smelling all the smells. Amy thrives on routine and if asked if she wants to go outside she will run to the door. She does like to jump up on people when she is excited. Amy is fully vetted, microchipped, and will have a dental cleaning and a groom prior to adoption. Amy is up for adoption because her owner passed away. She is bonded with another dog Cody and needs to be adopted together with him.
