Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Jinx! Please take a minute to read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me. If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. Jinx is a cute shih-tzu/terrier mix boy who is a bit on the shy side! When Jinx and a few of his friends came to AAMR, he was a little more reserved than the others, and he still is! He will probably do better in a family with another friendly, confident small dog. He is not a fan of larger dogs, but was raised with several dogs closer to his size. He loves treats and tries really hard to listen, but with all that energy, sometimes it’s hard! Jinx, like most pups, would benefit from going to obedience classes, so he would meet new friends and learn how to behave properly. It seems like most of what he knows, he has learned from other dogs. Although the pups had human contact, they do not seem to have had a lot of human ‘interaction’ such as learning their names, listening skills, or basic manners. Now he just needs some human instruction so he can learn how to be the best boy! Anyone who knows shih-tzus and little terriers knows they are super smart, a little wild and willful, and make the most loving little fur-buddies. A fenced yard is high on Jinx’s wish list at a new home! He loves to run around and explore, especially if he has another small pup to run with. He learns his routine quickly but still does not have good enough recall to be allowed off-leash outside. He had never seen a leash or harness prior to coming to foster care, so this has been a learning experience and we’re still working on it. That sweet little face tells you all you need to know … he just needs a great family to have patience with him and love him forever! Approximate age/birthdate: ~June 2, 2023 Weight/size: ~20 lbs Housebroken: Working on it and doing well. Crate trained: YES Personality: friendly but reserved until he knows you and feels safe, smart, happy Energy level: medium with bursts of high … he does need plenty of daily exercise Fenced yard required?: Definitely preferred … it will make life easier for everyone if he has a safe, fenced area to run off some energy! He must never be outside a fenced area off-leash. Does he/she jump fences? NO Leash walk with manners: Working on it … a leash was something he had never seen before coming to AAMR Obedience training: None Riding in vehicles: He is learning but still gets stressed and may drool a little Spayed/neutered: YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES Microchipped: YES Social with other dogs: YES – dogs closer to his size. He is not comfortable with larger dogs but so far has just tried to avoid them. Social with cats: Has not been around cats in foster care, but we’re all betting he would like to playfully chase them Good with children: Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. Due to his being more reserved, he might not do well with all the noise and motion of very young children. Adoption donation: $200 All-American Mutt Rescue is an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by answering all the questions on the application completely. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Jinx picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
