Booboo is a 13yoa Shih Tzu male who is extremely loving and loves to cuddle. He loves to go on walks, sun bathe and take long naps. Recently we’ve had to keep him in diapers due to inappropriate urination which has now escalated to inappropriate pooping as well. We’ve taken him to the vet who has noted no health issues and has advised its behavioral. This all started around the time I became pregnant. He has always been my baby but he seems to not care for the thought of another baby entering our lives. I am due in May and the closer I get to my due date the worse it gets. In all the years I’ve had him he’s never used the bathroom in the house or his cage but at this point he’ll use his diaper at any time and he’s now pooping in his cage. We truly don’t know what else to do anymore. We’re looking for a loving home that would be able to give him the time and attention that he’s desperately seeking.

Meet Hank! Hank was found near a business in Cidra PR and no one claimed him.  Our rescures took him in, got him vaccinated, neutered, and 4dx tested.  He is healthy and family ready.  Hank is 28 lbs, and the veterinarian in Puerto Rico estimates he is about 2 years old.  Hank looks to me like a Shih Tzu mix but we did do a DNA test to find out.  He gets along with other dogs and enjoys the company of people.  We will know more about him once he gets his freedom flight to the States.  If you would like to foster or adopt Hank, please put in an application.   Complete one of our online adoption applications today! Meet Carlton – A Spunky Little Gentleman with a Big Personality! Carlton is a 6-year-old purebred Shih Tzu with the heart and energy of a pup. Weighing in at just 11 pounds and wrapped in a soft cream coat sprinkled with light beige spots, this little guy is as handsome as he is charming.  Carlton has the zest and playful spirit of a much younger dog.. His sweet personality combined with his adorable looks win over everyone he meets.  He’s smart, observant, and full of curiosity about the world around him. Carlton is housebroken, fully vetted, rides well in the car, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He walks on a leash, though he does like to take the lead—something that a confident, experienced owner can easily guide him through with a little patience and consistency. Though crates aren’t exactly his favorite, Carlton will settle down once inside, and we expect he’ll become more comfortable with crate time as he adjusts to his new routine and surroundings. Carlton came to Critter Cavalry Rescue after his previous family, who loved him deeply, could no longer keep up with his grooming and vet care. They made the difficult decision to surrender him in hopes he’d find a home where he could be fully cared for and cherished. We promised them we’d find just that—and we believe it’s out there. Carlton is going to be someone’s little jewel, and we’re so excited for what the future holds for him. Could you be the one he’s been waiting for? We are so excited to help place this adorable two year old Shih Tzu boy named Cocoa in a perfect new forever home. Surrendered by his owner due to the inability to properly vet him and continue to groom him, he and his companion girl latte were placed in Critter.Cavalry's care  April 5th.  We have spent the past week watching this amazing and happy little guy.Find his niche quickly within the new foster home.  To say that he is a happy boy, is an understatement.  To say that he is easy to fit in is also an understatement.  He has walked right in, said hello, to all the other foster dogs and permanent ones living with their owner, and gone about his business of being a delight to have around.
