She is an almost 6 year old Shih Tzu who weighs 13 pounds. She is new to rescue so we are just beginning to see her personality emerge. She was a breeder dog from Pennsylvania so she is learning how to be a pet. Lexie eats well and sleeps through the night. She was just spayed so she is taking it easy for a couple of weeks. She was shaved down when she came into rescue but we are sure that she will have a beautiful coat once her hair begins to grow longer. Lexie will need to learn how to walk on a leash. She shows some interest in toys. We havent determined if she is house trained yet but so far no accidents. Read about the the Shih Tzu breedhere Things to consider when applying to adopt Lexie: Requires leash training Friendly with both men and women Tolerates other dogs Requires professional grooming Not tested with kids Not tested with cats Appears to ride well in cars Please follow us on social media for the most up to date photos and information. For inquiries email celia@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $400 Location: Silver Spring, MD Noel is new in rescue. She is a retired breeding dog. She is approximately 7 years old and weighs about 12 pounds. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is ready for her forever home. Noel has started to integrate into the family routine. Shes spending more time outside of the open crate, and she spent a good part of the daytoday in a sunny spot on a blanket soaking up the morning rays. She deserves a well earned retirementafter all those years as a puppy mill breeder. Shes eating great, and is going potty outside regularly. She sleeps very quietly in the crate at night. Shes still skittish around humans and doesnt yet initiate human contact, however shes been wagging her tail when I walk into the room!! If I place her on my lap, she will cuddle upand sleep. Well continue to work on the wonders of GOOD human contact and I anticipate that shell come out of her shell more each day! Things to consider when adopting Noel" retired breeder dog (may be shy for a while) house training is in progress she will need help learning to walk on lead grooming every 4-6 weeks to maintain coat regular bathing (every 1-2 weeks between grooming appointments) will help keep her coat in good condition she will need a slow, patient approach once adopted Please visit our website www.compactcaninerescue.org to learn more about this amazing pet and see other adoptable dogs.

Story
George is a 4-year-old Shih Tzu mix with a heart as big as his, usual, fluffy coat. Recently surrendered by his longtime owner who could no longer care for him, George finds himself feeling a bit lost and heartbroken in the kennel environment. The world he’s known for the last four years has been turned upside down, and he’s eager to find a loving home where he can feel safe and cherished once again. Despite his current confusion, George's sweet and cuddly nature shines through. He’s a little lovebug who craves snuggles and enjoys being close to his humans—he’s like a baby in fur form! George is neutered, microchipped, and will soon be fully vaccinated, so he’s ready to start his new life with you. If you’re looking for a devoted companion to shower with love (and maybe a few belly rubs), George is your guy.

Story
Meet Fredricks !! This guy is a total ham. He is adorable and super fun loving. A really good boy. We cant figure out why someone would neglect and dump such a wonderful little guy. He came to us from the shelter where he was so matted,he couldn’t be touched without nipping at people due to the pain the mats in his fur were causing him. We had him immediately groomed and not only does he look like a proper gentleman now, he feels so so so much better!! Fredericks is said to be an approx. 8-year-old Shih Tzu mix. He acts like he is way younger and is a fun spunky guy. He currently weighs 11 pounds and is full grown. He will be neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines as part of his adoption. He is heartworm negative. This boy is always jumping up on your leg to get some attention. He follows you everywhere and is such a joyful little guy. He likes to be carried around and do anything you are doing. He has no problem barking at “intruders” coming into the home and giving a valiant home defense effort from the safety of the couch. LOL. Fredricks has been good with dogs of all sizes. He will get growly with them if they are too much for him but he has a good patience level prior to that. He has not met any cats so we are not sure how he would do. He is not much bigger than a cat so they may do okay. He is not fostered with any kids but did really love the 8 year old he hung out with after his grooming appointment. With that said he does have an issue with nipping if someone tries to grab his legs. He has been a bit off and on with this and it may be residual effect of his pain from the matting he had. He would need to be around older children that understand fully not to mess with his legs at all. He so far has not had any issues with being picked up or held it seems to solely be the intentional reach or grab of a leg. Fredrick is crate trained but can be vocal at times while inside the crate. He really likes to be with his people and will protest if he can see you while he is in there. He walks fairly well on a leash. He can pull a bit when excited but nothing too hard to manage. He has done fineon all the car rides he has been on. He doesn’t seem to really like them but just lays on the floorboard and does not get sick. He is mostly potty trained. He does not have anyregular potty accidents inside however he does some leg lifting/marking inside still. He has an upcoming neuter which will hopefully resolve that. He has no problem wearing a belly band to help with that inside until he learns to stop doing it. He’s had no trouble sharing food, treats or toys with humans. He’s been grumbly with other dogs trying to take his toys or approaching his food to quickly but so far it hasn’t escalated past that. He listens fairly well and is learning more and more each day. He is a dog that will get under your feet while following you around so if you are an unstable walker he may not be the best fit. Overall Fredrick is a great little dog. He is both active and cuddly. A good mix of both. He is spunky and always ready to go where ever you want to go. He is glued to his people and wants to be involved in everything going on in the home. He will make someone a wonderful companion! 📌📌He will need regular grooming. This requires time to get him to and from the appointments and additional expenses to pay for it. On average a dog of this breed will need grooming every 6 weeks. This should be fully considered prior to applying to adopt him. ➡️Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com or for faster response message our Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application.‼️

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Coal and Ziggy found themselves homeless after the passing of their owner in November 2024. They are sweet dogs who have been together since they were puppies and would thrive adopted together. They are both blind but have no other health issues besides old age. Coal is on arthritis medication. Both are neutered and up to date on rabies vaccinations. The adoption fee is $100 for both dogs together.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/. The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care. Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy. We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter. CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract. CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it. December 11, 2024, 10:46 pm
