Story
Vivian needs someone who is willing to put the time and energy into properly training her. We adopted her a year ago from a breeder of Shih Tzus. She was a year old and had not been purchased as a puppy. Despite her age, Viv had never been named or seemingly given any attention. She was timid and fully untrained. Over the past year, Vivian has relaxed with my wife and me. She loves to snuggle up against us and be petted. She does not relax with any other people. Her issue has worsened since we had a baby 3 months ago. She loves the baby, but barks and nips at the ankles of anyone else who comes in the house or room, even our 12 & and 15-year-old sons. Additionally, we have been unable to completely house-train Vivian. She continues to pee and poop in the house, even minutes after going outside. Viv does love other dogs. She spends hours playing and wrestling with our other dog, a sheepadoodle mix. Viv is not spayed. We are waiving adoption fee as new owners must get her spayed.

Story
Fanta is one of the 60 Shih-Tzu recently surrendered by a breeder. They were all flea-infested and living in very unsanitary conditions. Most of the dogs lost almost all of their hair, but you can see this cute guy managed to keep most of his. Fanta is 5-6 years old. He's come a long way since arriving a couple of weeks ago. He was very skittish but is so much better. He has no problem meeting new people as long as they are patient with him and let him come up to them at his pace. His personality is starting to come out and he is starting to play and can be very amusing and goofy. He is a little nervous around the cats in the home but doesn't try to chase them. The foster family does not have any other dogs but we know he lived in a house with 59 other dogs his size so he may be OK with small dogs, but it would probably take him awhile to warm up. He would do good as an only dog. He loves to curl up on the couch with his foster mom and loves to be next to her all the time so he does need a home where someone is home a lot. He doesn't like being in a crate, but he is housebroken so no need to crate him. He does walk well on a leash. He does have some corneal density in his right eye which impairs his vision but he sees around it and that shouldn't change. He is vaccinated, neutered, negative for heartworms and micro-chipped. Fanta would do great with a person who wants a companion to be with them all the time. Young children would not be good since he is still skittish. We can see he is already doing so much better than when he arrived, and we know he is going to make a great companion for someone. If you are interested in Fanta our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. He is located in Williamsburg.

Story
Sprite is now available! She is one of the 60 Shih-Tzu who were surrendered by a breeder. She is a shy 6yo little girl. Despite her living conditions before arriving, she's sweet as can be. She has become curious but is still skittish and startles very easily. Surprisingly she is really good with the younger child in the house. She would probably do OK with well-behaved, somewhat calm children. Does not do well with sudden movements or noises She was a little bit shy around the other dogs in the home when she arrived but is now getting along with dogs and cats of all sizes, including the foster family's big dog! She is eats well… Goes in her crate during the day when no one is home but prefers to cuddle at night. She always wants to be with her favorite people. She loves to give kisses or nose touches and always wants to know where everyone is. She is not 100% housebroken yet and is still learning to walk on a leash. She actually lost the most hair of the dogs we took in so her hair still looks a little sparse, but it is growing back and she is starting to look very cute. She is vaccinated, HW negative, spayed and micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting Sprite our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. She is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Story
Dr. Pepper is now available! She is one of the 60 Shih-Tzu who were surrendered by a breeder. Dr. Pepper is a shy 3yo little girl. Despite her living conditions before arriving, she's sweet as can be. She has become curious but startles very easily. The sofa is her current safe space, and she spends a lot of time there. Dr. Pepper is a "velcro" dog and does not like to be alone. She does get a bit anxious and shakes if her person leaves her sight. She does not like being on a leash, but when taken out, she quickly does her business and heads for the door. For the most part, she is doing very well with housebreaking and has only had a few accidents. Given how easy Dr. Pepper startles a quieter home with no young children would be best. She would do O.K. in a home with another laid-back dog her size to show her how to be a dog. She has suffered significant hair loss due to flea infestation. While a lot of her hair has started growing back and she looks much better, we can not guarantee that it all will. But we think she looks cute just like she is. Dr. Pepper has been spayed, is up to date on vaccinations, micro-chipped and HW negative. We know the right home is out there for this young, sweet girl. If you are interested in meeting her our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. She is located in Williamsburg.

Story
My name is Biscuit and I'm a southern boy that somehow got lost from my family and they never came looking for me. I was kind of in bad shape when I showed up on an older couple's front porch and curled up underneath the chair just looking for some shelter and protection from the weather.  Noone ever came forward so Cavalry rescue really came through for me and they got me groomed and a bath and then they got me neutered, heartworm neg. test and all my shots, microchipped, and deworming. I'm a healthy 2-3 year-old, 21 lb Lhasa Apso mix boy that everybody loves.  You see I am a happy little guy that loves everyone and I am totally fearless about life. I am not scared of big dogs either and I try to be everyone's friends no matter their size. My foster mom said I'm housebroken and I have perfect house manners, which amazed her. I'm very good in the house and I'm very easy to have around so if I could talk I could probably tell him who I belong to. But I can't talk and I guess my parents don't really care where I am. But, Critter Cavalry cares where my next home is and they're out scouring the countryside looking for my next blessing of a new and loving family.  I'm a young boy and I have a ton of years and life ahead of me. I will be the easiest and best dog you have ever owned. Contact Critter Cavalry rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com If you were interested in adopting me. I could be an early Christmas gift that you make to yourself!  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 18, 2024, 7:24 pm

Story
It is most unusual that Critter Cavalry rescue has been able to offer a Japanese Chin mix dog to the community of rescue adopters. This boy is probably 70% Japanese chin and maybe the other percentage is Shih Tzu. But he is the cutest little guy at just 18 months of age and 13 lb of pure soft hair.   His name is Cash and we know that someone will hit the jackpot if they adopt this boy. He is easy on a leash meets people with a Ted bit of shyness but yet welcoming manners and he is good with all other dogs and would most probably be best friends with a cat if he was invited to be. He's working on housebreaking as we haven't had any but a couple of weeks and he's learning the rules and schedule. He is a beautiful boy with a sweet and soft demeanor just as sweet and soft as he looks. We love his black faced and his warm dark eyes that look at you with the question of ' will you be my next mom or dad?'. He is a tiny little thing that will be such a treasure to have in your life. The breed is Hardy and exceptionally smart and very affectionate. You will find nothing wrong with life if Cash is by your side traveling life's journey while riding in the car for adventures or walking the pathways of life to explore the neighborhood.   He will be a friendship magnet as people stop to admire his handsome beauty. If you were interested in this very young Japanese Chin mix please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comNovember 18, 2024, 7:24 pm

Story
Cash is an absolute delight—super cute, incredibly sweet, and full of love. At 18 months old, this 13-pound bundle of Japanese Chin mix joy, is still very much a puppy at heart.  He has wonderful playful and affectionate personality that will melt anyone’s heart. Cash thrives on human companionship -- a true lap dog who loves to curl up with you and soak up all the love and attention you can give. His ideal day includes snuggling on the couch, getting belly rubs, and being your constant companion. If you’re looking for a cuddly little buddy who’ll be by your side, Cash is the one!  Though he’s crate trained, Cash isn't a huge fan of being in his crate for long periods of time.. However, he’s making great progress and with some patience, he'll continue to improve. Cash is still working on his house training, but he’s learning quickly and with consistent routines, he'll be fully housebroken in no time. Cash is great on a leash and enjoys going for walks, which will be an excellent way for him to bond with his new family while staying active. He’s friendly with other dogs and loves to play, but we’re not sure how he feels about cats just yet.  Cash would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time. He loves attention and would appreciate having a family that can give him the time and love he craves. While he’d likely do well with older kids due to his unknown background, he’s gentle and sweet, so with proper introductions, he might do fine with younger children as well.  If you’re looking for a lovable companion who will adore you and bring endless joy into your life, Cash would make an amazing addition to your family! He is in Tennessee, but can be transported to the Northeast for you is needed! If interested, please contact ccrtennessee@gmail.com for an application.  November 18, 2024, 7:24 pm
