Story
PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - FINLEY BREED - Shih tzu mix SIZE - About 10 pounds AGE - 1-2 years GENDER - Male MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Finley is a precious little fellow seeking the companionship of a wonderful adopter! Not only is he adorable, but he is super sweet. Finley is both quiet, and clean, and a perfect little sweetheart that would be happy beside her special person enjoying a quiet life. Finley came to us from a shelter in NC recently and has stolen our hearts. We believe he must have been someone's beloved pet at some point as he is just so sweet and gentle. He seems to have led a somewhat sheltered life as he is uncertain with many things most dogs never consider. He loves to be with people and is kind to other small dogs. Fully grown at just 10 pounds, he is a perfect size for most homes! Finley is in good health, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. We are seeking a home with an adopter able to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time with him. A home without larger pets or small children, and with a fenced, secure yard will be in Finley's best interest. As a young dog, we will look for an adopter able to provide independently for Finley for his lifetime. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Finley and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and your family to meet Finley at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting him and determining that he matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. More information on our website at www.carerva.com.

Story
This precious soul is called Candy Girl she is a darling little white and dark grey 4 year old Shih Tzu female that weighs a tiny 10 pounds.  She is a little thing that was cast aside when her former mom became “involved” in a more important relationship that left no time for Candy Girl.  She was given away to a Critter Cavalry Rescue lady who has gotten her fully vetted (she was NOT spayed) and all her shots done and heartworm tested, microchip and fecal test done.  She has gotten the full spa treatment to make her look pretty for a new person or family to adopt her.  She is nothing but pure sweet love and snuggles and is wonderful with dogs and cats alike.  She is an innocent little girl that thought her momma loved her to the moon and back.  Apparently she did not.  Some human stepped out of the shadows and cast a dark cloud over Candy Girl’s life.  We have promised her no more clouds but only sunshine and love to come just in time for the Holiday Season.  She is housebroken, crate trained and walks like a Princess on the leash.  She would sleep in bed with you if you allow it or she could find a soft little bed to snuggle down in every night.  Candy Girl didn’t deserve to become second fiddle but we are going to fix that.  If you are interested please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   Together we will make her Holiday Season Merry and Bright! PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 2, 2024, 10:18 pm

Story
Fanta is one of the 60 Shih-Tzu recently surrendered by a breeder. They were all flea-infested and living in very unsanitary conditions. Most of the dogs lost almost all of their hair, but you can see this cute guy managed to keep most of his. Fanta is 5-6 years old. He's come a long way since arriving a couple of weeks ago. He was very skittish but is so much better. He has no problem meeting new people as long as they are patient with him and let him come up to them at his pace. His personality is starting to come out and he is starting to play and can be very amusing and goofy. He is a little nervous around the cats in the home but doesn't try to chase them. The foster family does not have any other dogs but we know he lived in a house with 59 other dogs his size so he may be OK with small dogs, but it would probably take him awhile to warm up. He would do good as an only dog. He loves to curl up on the couch with his foster mom and loves to be next to her all the time so he does need a home where someone is home a lot. He doesn't like being in a crate, but he is housebroken so no need to crate him. He does walk well on a leash. He does have some corneal density in his right eye which impairs his vision but he sees around it and that shouldn't change. He is vaccinated, neutered, negative for heartworms and micro-chipped. Fanta would do great with a person who wants a companion to be with them all the time. Young children would not be good since he is still skittish. We can see he is already doing so much better than when he arrived, and we know he is going to make a great companion for someone. If you are interested in Fanta our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. He is located in Williamsburg.

Story
Sprite is now available! She is one of the 60 Shih-Tzu who were surrendered by a breeder. She is a shy 6yo little girl. Despite her living conditions before arriving, she's sweet as can be. She has become curious but is still skittish and startles very easily. Surprisingly she is really good with the younger child in the house. She would probably do OK with well-behaved, somewhat calm children. Does not do well with sudden movements or noises She was a little bit shy around the other dogs in the home when she arrived but is now getting along with dogs and cats of all sizes, including the foster family's big dog! She is eats well… Goes in her crate during the day when no one is home but prefers to cuddle at night. She always wants to be with her favorite people. She loves to give kisses or nose touches and always wants to know where everyone is. She is not 100% housebroken yet and is still learning to walk on a leash. She actually lost the most hair of the dogs we took in so her hair still looks a little sparse, but it is growing back and she is starting to look very cute. She is vaccinated, HW negative, spayed and micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting Sprite our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. She is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Story
Dr. Pepper is now available! She is one of the 60 Shih-Tzu who were surrendered by a breeder. Dr. Pepper is a shy 3yo little girl. Despite her living conditions before arriving, she's sweet as can be. She has become curious but startles very easily. The sofa is her current safe space, and she spends a lot of time there. Dr. Pepper is a "velcro" dog and does not like to be alone. She does get a bit anxious and shakes if her person leaves her sight. She does not like being on a leash, but when taken out, she quickly does her business and heads for the door. For the most part, she is doing very well with housebreaking and has only had a few accidents. Given how easy Dr. Pepper startles a quieter home with no young children would be best. She would do O.K. in a home with another laid-back dog her size to show her how to be a dog. She has suffered significant hair loss due to flea infestation. While a lot of her hair has started growing back and she looks much better, we can not guarantee that it all will. But we think she looks cute just like she is. Dr. Pepper has been spayed, is up to date on vaccinations, micro-chipped and HW negative. We know the right home is out there for this young, sweet girl. If you are interested in meeting her our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. She is located in Williamsburg.
