Story
Vivian needs someone who is willing to put the time and energy into properly training her. We adopted her a year ago from a breeder of Shih Tzus. She was a year old and had not been purchased as a puppy. Despite her age, Viv had never been named or seemingly given any attention. She was timid and fully untrained. Over the past year, Vivian has relaxed with my wife and me. She loves to snuggle up against us and be petted. She does not relax with any other people. Her issue has worsened since we had a baby 3 months ago. She loves the baby, but barks and nips at the ankles of anyone else who comes in the house or room, even our 12 & and 15-year-old sons. Additionally, we have been unable to completely house-train Vivian. She continues to pee and poop in the house, even minutes after going outside. Viv does love other dogs. She spends hours playing and wrestling with our other dog, a sheepadoodle mix. Viv is not spayed. We are waiving adoption fee as new owners must get her spayed.

Story
Approximate Age: 3 years Approximate Weight: 10lbs Meet Ruffles! Here is what our volunteers have said about him so far: - Knows sit - Working on housetraining - Keeps a clean kennel - Doesn't mind the company of other dogs - Loves to go for walks - Loves a good game of fetch - He would love pets - but it is on his terms- he will give you a clear sign when he is stressed and done. If you ignore the signs you will get bitten. - If his warnings are ignored he may snap and try to bite you - May be best as a solo owner dog - Needs an understanding owner who will respect his boundaries *********************************************************************** Visit our website for an application to adopt. https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-application What breed am I? Story
Approximate Age: 1-2 years Approximate Weight: 11.6 lbs Finn just arrived to ODHS! We are still learning all about him. He is a very shy, nervous boy but warms up with time. Once he knows you, he loves you. When you initially meet him, he is a bite risk. With a couple weeks time and tender loving care, he will love you. He would do best in a home with older or no kids. Finn does great with other dogs. *********************************************************************** Visit our website for an application to adopt. https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-application Educational article: 3/3/3 rule: https://www.rescuedogs101.com/bringing-new-dog-home-3-3-3-rule/?fbclid=IwAR2iv5m7fqk3FieO7LOsstGeGsYYV_F1rJOd1BPxaImofLpcinpYsUbFRWs Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog).
