Bentley is a 10-12 year-young, 26-lb sweetheart with the soul of a grumpy old man and the heart of the biggest snuggle bug you’ll ever meet. He lounges like a pro, snores like a freight train, and insists on having some part of his body touching his human at all times. That’s where he feels safe. He is completely potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, loves being outdoors, and gets along beautifully with dogs, cats, kids, and even chickens (yes, really!). Bentley has some vision loss, but he compensates incredibly well — he does stairs, navigates confidently, and just needs a little patience and consistency. He does require daily eye medication, and he’ll need someone willing to help him with that simple routine. Bentley has separation anxiety — understandable after losing the person he loved most — and he truly needs a quiet, calm home with someone who can spend a lot of time with him. A single person or couple would be ideal. He does not like being crated and needs to sleep in the same space as his human at night to feel secure. Because of his eye issues, a home without small children is best. This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn.
