Story
Welcome to rescue, Jackson!  He is a senior Shih Tzu mix, born 2013.  His owner is moving into an assisted living facility, so he needs a new place.  Jackson has been living in a senior care facility, so he is familiar with that type of environment.  He doesn't need a fenced yard because he is used to only going outside on a leash. Jackson is very sweet.  He loves to just snuggle in his bed (or with you) and he also does well in the car.  He loves everyone - kids, adults, cats/kittens and other dogs.  He is not used to being kenneled, but he is fine being left home alone.  He'll need a refresher for potty training in his new environment. Jackson is blind in one eye.  He doesn't know how to go down steps, but is able to go up the steps.  Apply today if Jackson seems like a good match for you! The suggested adoption donation for Jackson is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Meet Diggy. I adopted Diggy in 2024, and everything about his life prior to that is unknown. Despite my best efforts, and after consulting with a behaviorist, I believe Diggy would do best in another home. What I love about Diggy: he is a goofball--he loves to play in blankets and has his favorite toys that he plays fetch with. He likes to lay on your lap, rolls over for belly scratches, and will gladly sleep in your bed at night. He enjoys being outside and going for quiet nature walks. Diggy's challenges: he does not play well with cats-he will fixate and chase them, so a home without cats is required. Diggy is leash reactive-if he sees another dog while on a walk, he responds by barking and lunging at them. He may do well with another small dog to play with in the home, but I am not certain of this. Diggy's perfect home=quiet with no cats or small children, and has either a fenced yard or walking area that provides limited distractions.
