Story
Lucy is a sweet little dog 12-year-old who my sister-in-law has raised since she was a puppy. She has a very good disposition and has shared the home with her poodle buddy Desi and prior to that another Shih Tzu Frankie. This has been a very difficult time for my sister-in-law not to be able to no longer care for them due to her being in a long-term rehabilitation facility. It would be great if she can be in the same home as Desi since the have been together for over a decade. Lucy is on medication for congestive heart failure but my wife who has been taking care of Lucy says she is still active spry.

Story
Pepper is a Shih Tzu/Poodle, born September, 2014.  This sweet senior will do best in a home where someone is home with her most of the time, perhaps a person working from home or retired. She is very shy and easily frightened by sudden movements and loud noises; therefore, she will do best with no children in her home.  She enjoys having the companionship of patient dogs her size who can help her learn daily routines, such as going out to potty, eating and playing. She ignores cats. When the weather cooperates, Pepper loves to sit in the sun and will sometimes take long naps outside. She also enjoys finding the sunniest spot in the home where she can nap. This princess prefers resting in a cozy dog bed or on a fluffy blanket, and the kennel is her safe place when the vacuum monster comes around.  She is interested in learning what goes on throughout the house and will follow her foster mom from room to room from a distance. Pepper does not like to have her kennel door closed so her foster mom leaves the door open, when possible. Pepper loves chicken chews and chicken jerky. She has learned very quickly that after her morning bathroom break, it is breakfast time and will sit quietly while watching it being prepared.  She is still learning not to take the food from other dogs. Pepper is not yet fully potty trained, but has come a long way. She knows the word "outside,” watches when the other dogs do their business, sees her foster mom praise them. and then earns that praise for herself.  She gets really excited when she gets praised, too.  After that, she is ready to go inside for the yummy treat that has been earned. Pepper enjoys her bath time.  Although she is nervous at first, the warm water eases her tension, and she enjoys a relaxing massage with the nice smelling shampoo.  She stands completely still and simply enjoys. Pepper is slow to trust and will need a home where she is allowed time to develop that trust. It took three weeks for Pepper to trust enough to take treats from her foster mom’s hand.  Are you the patient person that Pepper needs?  If so, please consider sending us your application to adopt her.  Information is included below.  The suggested adoption fee for Pepper is $265.  Bullies-N-Beyond ResQ Inc. is a 501(c)3, non-profit corporation that is 100% volunteer operated. Adoption donation fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. All dogs adopted through BNBR will have been administered their age appropriate vaccines which may include DHPP, Rabies, Lepto and Bordetella. All dogs will also be adopted out as already altered if of age, for those not of age, a voucher will be provided. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. BNBR does not adopt on a first serve basis. All available dogs are adopted based on their needs to provide the best fit home. ##1825207##

Story
Oscar Located in western Nebraska5 years oldPurebred Shih TzuNO CHILDRENDog selective, would likely be fine with 1 other calm dog his size No catsHouse trained Crate trained and knows basic commands Leash trained and LOVES walksDOES NOT SHARE FOOD Fully vetted12lbs approx This is Oscar and Oscar is an owner surrender. You see as his family grew and he aged from a baby to a little man he decided that kids just weren’t his deal. In fact if he could take a HARD PASS on tiny humans he would. Along with his growing intolerance to tiny unpredictable humans and they chaos that follows them, he also became very agitated with some of the various other dogs in the household. He absolutely adores his Pug brother but he could take or leave, mostly leave, the other canines. As a result we are looking for a CALM home for Oscar. A home without children and maybe 1 other dog his size on the calmer side. While we believe that some of his angst with the other canine siblings in the home may be a ripple result of the small human & their chaos issues, there is no way to know for sure. In order to set both parties up for success we are adamant about these stipulations.   Oscar is a sweet lil man who has come into who he is and, like all of us, has changed a bit along his journey. Oscar is a WONDERFUL dog, who deserves a WONDERFUL home that respects his desire for a more zen environment. Oscar isn’t old, he isn’t even a senior, he is in the prime of his life, he just needs a partner in crime to experience it with. If you think this dapper lil dude may be a perfect match for your home please reach out!  To Contact Us Message us through our website http://www.highplainspaw.org Message the Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/HighPlainsPAW Join and contact us through our FOSTER GROUP: https://www.facebook.com/groups/836373273962895/?ref=share Fill out our Adoption Application at https://www.highplainspaw.org/adoption-application Fill out our Foster Application at  https://www.highplainspaw.org/foster-application Email us at highplainspaw@gmail.com Call our VOICEMAIL at (402)957-1578 Due to his predominant breed being a Shih Tzu we will give priority to homes with BRACHYCEPHALIC BREED EXPERIENCE. Further all our brachycephalic dogs MUST vet at an AAHA certified vet, (unless you know your vet is well versed in Brachys), this is because of their extreme vet needs. Brachycephalic dogs are extremely expensive dogs to upkeep so please bare that in mind when applying and make sure you're in a financial place to take it on. $400.00 Adoption Fee (Which is considered a non refundable donation and being we are a 501c3 organization it is tax deductible. The fee itself is not negotiable, our vets don't negotiate and thus neither do we.)  Fully vetted means, altered, up to date on vaccines, HW tested if applicable and on flea/tick preventative (chemical or natural, aka sans buggies)  WE DO NOT HAVE A FACILITY ALL OUR DOGS ARE LOCATED IN FOSTER HOMES. This means there is no place for you to go in person to view our dogs. We ask that an application be filled out and we will go from there! We do ALLOW out of state adoptions, HOWEVER the adopter MUST pick the dog up in person and DRIVE or FLY (IN CABIN ONLY) the dog back at the adopters expense. We do NOT coordinate transport.  ##1614074##
