Story
Pepper is a Shih Tzu/Poodle, born September, 2014.  This sweet senior will do best in a home where someone is home with her most of the time, perhaps a person working from home or retired. She is very shy and easily frightened by sudden movements and loud noises; therefore, she will do best with no children in her home.  She enjoys having the companionship of patient dogs her size who can help her learn daily routines, such as going out to potty, eating and playing. She ignores cats. When the weather cooperates, Pepper loves to sit in the sun and will sometimes take long naps outside. She also enjoys finding the sunniest spot in the home where she can nap. This princess prefers resting in a cozy dog bed or on a fluffy blanket, and the kennel is her safe place when the vacuum monster comes around.  She is interested in learning what goes on throughout the house and will follow her foster mom from room to room from a distance. Pepper does not like to have her kennel door closed so her foster mom leaves the door open, when possible. Pepper loves chicken chews and chicken jerky. She has learned very quickly that after her morning bathroom break, it is breakfast time and will sit quietly while watching it being prepared.  She is still learning not to take the food from other dogs. Pepper is not yet fully potty trained, but has come a long way. She knows the word "outside,” watches when the other dogs do their business, sees her foster mom praise them. and then earns that praise for herself.  She gets really excited when she gets praised, too.  After that, she is ready to go inside for the yummy treat that has been earned. Pepper enjoys her bath time.  Although she is nervous at first, the warm water eases her tension, and she enjoys a relaxing massage with the nice smelling shampoo.  She stands completely still and simply enjoys. Pepper is slow to trust and will need a home where she is allowed time to develop that trust. It took three weeks for Pepper to trust enough to take treats from her foster mom’s hand.  Are you the patient person that Pepper needs?  If so, please consider sending us your application to adopt her.  Information is included below.  The suggested adoption fee for Pepper is $265.  Bullies-N-Beyond ResQ Inc. is a 501(c)3, non-profit corporation that is 100% volunteer operated. Adoption donation fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. All dogs adopted through BNBR will have been administered their age appropriate vaccines which may include DHPP, Rabies, Lepto and Bordetella. All dogs will also be adopted out as already altered if of age, for those not of age, a voucher will be provided. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. BNBR does not adopt on a first serve basis. All available dogs are adopted based on their needs to provide the best fit home. ##1825207##

Story
Muppet is a funny little man who embodies the heart of a cartoon character, in looks and personality. He has all the energy of a young pup, with all the curmudgeonly sass of a beleaguered grandpa. This lively senior canine believes age is just a number. He springs into action the moment the back door opens or another dog enters his line of sight, eager to embrace the great outdoors or a new fluffy friendo! While a yard isn’t mandatory, he does require a harness for his meet-and-greet walks. Muppet's exterior is a gruff old Grinch; but deep down, he’s a caring mentor, taking younger, less confident dogs under his wing with the warmth of Kermit guiding his friends. He has a few quirky habits—like preferring to avoid dog stairs for the bed and getting persnickety when picked up (and not in the mood). Muppet gets along wonderfully with his doggy housemates, frolicking joyfully with even the oldest among them. He might give household cats a casual glance, but larger ones earn his respect and avoidance. Muppet is an olympic gold medalist at snuggling and may even sneak into your spot on the bed just to be a little closer to you. Overall, this character is loads of fun, he just wants it to be on his terms. If you’re looking for a sweet and affectionate companion to add joy and warmth to your life, Muppet is ready to be your beloved sidekick! Ideal home for Muppet will be a calm, adult-only home, preferably female-only. No rambunctious kids or pets that would overpower him. Must have small breed experience with verifiable excellent veterinary reference. Muppet is a male ShihTzu/Lhasa Apso who was was born approximately 5-26-12 and weighs 15 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, and started on heartworm prevention. Adoption fee is $300 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. If interested in adopting one of our available dogs or puppies, you must first complete an online adoption application at https://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will be contacted by our adoption coordinator via email after your application has been reviewed & approved to schedule an appointment.
