Story
8/2/24 Yes, she's still here! Someone needs to snatch up this little girl! 10/23/24 We can't believe Roberta is still here. Someone, PLEASE give her a home of her own! Roberta is a 9 year old gold and white Shih Tzu weighing about 11 pounds. She came to us a year ago, and she likes to think she's in charge. This girlie loves to be out in the back fenced yard, monitoring the other dogs and the neighborhood. She likes to find a sunny spot to catch some sun, then moves to a cool spot to enjoy the breeze. She's still working on her house training and relaxing around people. Roberta gets along with the other dogs here and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. She needs her own family that can help her learn all the secrets of being a family member in a home. To inquire about Roberta, please complete an application FIRST, at www.bongosbuddiesrescue.com

Story
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Location: Decatur, IL Requirements: Secure PHYSICAL fenced yard Pearl is a spunky and sassy Shih Tzu that likes to use her voice! She is a previous breeder dog and was shy at first but has warmed up in her foster home and has the Shih Tzu attitude the breed is loved for! Pearl likes to play, but she can be a little rough in her play. She has found a great playmate with the 16 lb Shihtzu mix in the foster home. The two of them run and jump on each other, tackle and wrestle until they are tired. She loves to chew and enjoys her weekly raw meaty bone given in her kennel. Pearl was very picky with her food when she came into rescue and so foster mom tried her on raw (which is what her dogs eat) and she eats it well. Foster mom is mixing raw with kibble and she does well with it. Pearl has only been around a toddler and she was terrified to the point of pooping herself. It is not recommended that small children live in the home with Pearl. She will require a secure physical fenced yard. Pearl's adoption is $375. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps! PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!

Story
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Located in Troy, MO Requirements: Canine Companion (the more the better) Secure physical fenced yard Jack is a sweet little guy with some insecurities and fears he needs to work through. Jack will do best in a home with at least one other young confident dog. He is good with dogs of all sizes but plays best with dogs his size or bigger. Jack is a playful guy and is enjoying his foster home with multiple dogs! His best friend is a cavalier/bernese dog and maybe it's his bigger size that makes Jack feel safe. Jack enjoys running around the yard with his friends, chasing each other, playing tug, and then taking a nap! Jack is also very sweet and loves his couch and cuddle time with foster mom. He tends to gravitate to women and sleeps in bed next to foster mom at night. Jack has a phobia to people in hats. It terrifies him and he will run and hide and shake. Please be mindful of this if you meet him and when others meet him. Jack walks good on a leash and would maybe enjoy short walks in a familiar environment. However, new people and situations scare him, and his instinct is to flee, so a physical fenced yard is required. Jack's adoption is $375. He is neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps. PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. Story
Location Decatur, IL Application at leiashope.org Frankie is the sweetest of all the pups. He loves attention and to be held and cuddled. When I sit on the floor he is usually the first to come running. He is the biggest boy and him and Pink Lady swap back and forth between who weighs the most. He does like treats but for him, his biggest motivator is affection. Frankie has been raised on Puppy Culture. Puppy Culture is a comprehensive program for new puppies that aims to optimize a puppy's physical and mental developement. The goal of the program is to raise confident and healthy puppies. Since birth Frankie has been handled, touched, stroked, smooched on and doted over. He has had many experiences to different sights, sounds (thunderstorm, dogs barking, TV, train, vacuum, hair dryer, etc.) and surfaces (grass, carpet, rock, vinyl, water, stairs, balance board, etc). In addition, he has had many opportunities to meet different people and dogs and go to different places. He has been taught to explore and try new things, how to communicate with people through manding, how to be creative in his thoughts and approaches to challenges, and been exposed to grooming equipment. Frankie is pretty even tempered about most things and is usually happy as long as he is getting loved on. Frankie has been weaned on a raw diet and had his gut biome enhanced with a variety of different foods. Studies have shown this can help with gut health throughout the rest of his life. Frankie does have a small umbilical hernia that can be repaired at the time of neuter. In addition he has polydactyl (an extra toe) rear feet and double dew claws. His feet do not hinder his ability to get around at all. Frankie's adoption is $550. Here is what your $550 gets you: All his puppy vaccines (DAPP and bordetella), approx value $150 Complete wellness exam, microchip, and deworming, approx value $130 Spay and neuter reimburse, value $200 Puppy Culture training from birth to adopt, approx value $300+ Food to take home, approx value $20 A cute, snuggly, perfect puppy, value PRICELESS Applications at leiashope.org NOTE: WE ARE A VOLUNTEER RAN ORGANIZATION AND OUR APPLICATION PROCESS CAN TAKE 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS, DEPENDING ON OUR AVAILIBILITY AND YOUR REFERENCES. ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE IN FOSTER HOMES AND NOT AT A CENTRAL LOCATION. AN APPROVED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE WE DO MEET AND GREETS. WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT DOGS. Story
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Located in Troy, MO Preference: Kids or a young playful dog Rugrat is a young Teddybear puppy (Bichon/Shihtzu) that is a little shy but is learning to trust people. Rugrat loves to play with other puppies, toys and chewies. He is warming up to his foster mom and likes it when she talks in a soft voice and tells him what a good and brave boy he is. Rugrat came from a place known as a puppy mill and did not get the socialization he needed as a young puppy. His new family will need to continue to work on his confidence and show him lots of love and patience. Rugrat came into rescue with Giardia, a common parasite found in puppy mills. It is easy to treat and he will finish his meds before leaving to his new family. Rugrat would do best with children or a young playful dog. Rugrat's adoption fee is $500. He is microchipped, current on age appropriate vaccines and on monthly heart worm prevention. He has not been neutered due to his young age (we spay/neuter at 6 months). A spay/neuter contract is required. Next steps can be found at leiashope.org. PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing.
