DOB: 12/5/2018 Approx. Weight: 9.44 Lbs Adoption Fee: $ 250 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Lila was released to Furry Kids' by a breeder. Lila is a sweet curious little Shih Tzu. She is shy and working on coming out of her shell and trying to feel like she belongs in a home! She loves her food and is a great eater! She is pretty potty trained (potty pads)as well as kennel trained. Once Lila warms up she just wants to follow you everywhere and be your shadow! She loves toys and even items she thinks are toys, she has a lot of personality for a pup that has lived most her life in a kennel. She just wants to feel loved! She is great around all sizes of dogs and cats. she is a really good girl that is learning the world is not as scary as she believed it to be and needs a patient family to help her blossom into the best version of herself! Lila can never be allowed to jump off furniture of any kind, also needs a home with minimal stairs. She did jump off a low couch at her foster home and landed incorrectly which resulted in a fracture/broken leg. She had surgery by the top orthopedic surgeon in Kansas City and she has healed well. We also did a special blood test on her to verify that she had no underlying issues that would cause her bones to be weak. As for grooming, she is very squirmy. The Shih Tzu breed needs grooming every 4-6 weeks and she will need to go to an experienced groomer. Please include the name and location of the groomer you currently use on your application. Children 10 and older please. I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped. Has also had a dental. Walter is a 10-year-old Shih Tzu rescued through the Humane Society. Walter only has his canine teeth left, so he will need canned food for the remainder of his life; but he just had a dental in June, so those remaining teeth are clean and polished! Walter is showing some signs of aging, but he is in very good shape. He tolerates some dogs but would prefer to be the only male, and he would be happiest if he was the star of the show. His favorite thing is going on a treasure hunt to find all of the toys. He brings them back to his bed and makes a huge pile of his bounty. Then he sits on his throne to survey all that he has accomplished. Walter appears to like men more than women. He loves to curl up and snuggle in the recliner on his foster dad's lap, but he refuses to sit long-term with his foster mom. She's trying not to take it personally, but he does follow her around the house. Walter has backpack all packed, and he's ready to travel. He would love to head out and see everything there is to see in the world! He loves looking out the window! Walter was recently groomed and will require regular grooming with his new adopters. Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Location: Decatur, IL Requirements: Secure PHYSICAL fenced yard Pearl is a spunky and sassy Shih Tzu that likes to use her voice! She is a previous breeder dog and was shy at first but has warmed up in her foster home and has the Shih Tzu attitude the breed is loved for! Pearl likes to play, but she can be a little rough in her play. She has found a great playmate with the 16 lb Shihtzu mix in the foster home. The two of them run and jump on each other, tackle and wrestle until they are tired. She loves to chew and enjoys her weekly raw meaty bone given in her kennel. Pearl was very picky with her food when she came into rescue and so foster mom tried her on raw (which is what her dogs eat) and she eats it well. Foster mom is mixing raw with kibble and she does well with it. Pearl has only been around a toddler and she was terrified to the point of pooping herself. It is not recommended that small children live in the home with Pearl. She will require a secure physical fenced yard. Pearl's adoption is $375. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps! PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!

Caesar is an adorable little red and white shih tzu puppy, born 4/23/24. He has AKC puppy papers. He was born in a commercial kennel, then consigned to a dog breeder auction as a prospective stud dog. Instead he was purchased into rescue so he can spend his life in a lap rather than in a breeder's pen. He is a sweet, active, playful puppy who gets along well with other pups. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations and wormings. He had a small navel hernia, which has been repaired.
