Luthando was found on the streets, just a matted mess which resulted to his short hair cut. We estimate his age to be about a year old. Since being in his foster home, WE are learning all new things about him since we don't know anything about his past. The first and foremost thing we have observed, he loves people. When he sees a human, his tail goes a mile a minute. So he will be a great companion for a family or someone that lives alone.
Luthando knows a few simple commands but doesn't really listen to them. He will walk on a harness to do his potty business. If you don't have a fence, he will need many walks a day to continue house training but also to get much needed exercise. After all, he is a puppy. If you do have a fence, make sure there are no gaps & is really secure. We wouldn't want him out on the streets again!
Because Luthando is so young and full of energy, he would do best in a home with little hours without humans. Or if you have a job that you can take him with you, that is even better. He does enjoy car rides. Foster mom has used a crate and he has done fine. Or just a doggie-safe area of the home that is set up for napping, playing, & a potty area will be even better. He is not completely potty trained but taken out often, he doesn't have accidents. Patience & praise will encourage him to continue his good record. If you don't have the time for a dog with tons of energy, Luthando is not the pup for you.
Remember, Luthando very much enjoys human company. He really likes to play with toys, & he will actively try to engage the other canines in the home. Some dogs are not going to appreciate his enthusiasm for contact play, some dogs will be excited to have a friend. If you have dogs in the home, please make sure they are the latter. Luthando is not subtle about play time & he can be a nuisance to dogs who prefer lounging or napping.
