8/2/24 Yes, she's still here! Someone needs to snatch up this little girl! 10/23/24 We can't believe Roberta is still here. Someone, PLEASE give her a home of her own! Roberta is a 9 year old gold and white Shih Tzu weighing about 11 pounds. She came to us a year ago, and she likes to think she's in charge. This girlie loves to be out in the back fenced yard, monitoring the other dogs and the neighborhood. She likes to find a sunny spot to catch some sun, then moves to a cool spot to enjoy the breeze. She's still working on her house training and relaxing around people. Roberta gets along with the other dogs here and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. Max is a 12 yr old mixed breed dog. He looks like a shitzu but dad was told he had poodle in him too. My dad rescued Max when he was 4 yrs old. Dad is now in a nursing home and unable to take care of Max. Max likes to play with his toys and loves to curl up next to you. Max loves his food and any treats you will give him (dad might have given him a few too many... ) Max is looking for a place he can call home.

This senior boy is quite the gentleman. He waits patiently for meals and enjoys being wherever you are. And he loves belly rubs! Bentley does pretty well on a leash for walks. He would do best in a quiet home where he can nap a lot of the day. Bentley is 11 years old and 29 pounds.The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. Secure fenced yard (no electric fences) and companion dog required     Misty is a 6 year old shih tzu who had a rough start to life. She is gentle and shy, and she has some quirks. Misty is unable to navigate down flights of stairs, so she needs to be carried. She can go up stairs just fine. She also is sometimes afraid of going outside, so again she needs to be picked up and carried.  Misty gets along with other dogs great and mostly just wants to chill near them. She is not rowdy nor is she very loud unless she’s been locked in her crate and she wants out. When she gets excited her whole body wiggles and she starts licking whoever is nearby.  Misty would be great in a quiet home where people are around often. She benefits from frequent potty breaks, gets excited for meals and takes treats gently. Misty will require at least one companion dog and a fenced yard.   If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Misty’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
