Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Theo is a 9-year-old Shih Tzu mix who weighs approximately 13 pounds. He is a sweet, snuggly lap log who loves to be near his humans! He would love a family that lets him sleep with them overnight. He is a gentle soul in search of a family to love him in his retirement years.   Theo is close to being potty-trained when kept on a schedule, but he does still have potty accidents. He will need a family who is patient with him while he continues to build consistency with housetraining. This cold Minnesota weather is not helping! Theo does not enjoy spending time in his kennel. He is very vocal when in there, but does well with free roam, so there is really no reason to kennel him. Theo is also vocal when there are new people in his space and he likes to alert his foster family when they have visitors. For this reason, shared walls might not be the best fit for his forever home. His fur will require regular grooming, but what handsome old man doesn't deserve a good spa day?!?    Theo has luxating patellas in both of his knees. The vet does not recommend surgical intervention at this time, but it is something to watch in the future. Currently, Theo should continue taking a glucosamine supplement.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application.  Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet!  A home visit is required prior to adoption.  Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination:  Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue.  We do not guarantee this determination. In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading the information you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Luna is a gentle, seven-year-old Shih Tzu with a timid spirit and a deeply loyal heart. Once she feels safe, she bonds closely and loves nothing more than being near her people. Because she struggles with anxiety when left alone, Luna needs a family that is home often—ideally someone retired or working remotely—who can help her build confidence and trust that her loved ones will always return. When she is left alone she does vocalize, so it would be best if her new home is not in an apartment or townhouse setting where there are shared walls and she can be heard by neighbors. Luna does not do well in kennels or confined spaces and will need a home that allows her to roam freely in the house near her people. She previously lived in a one-level home, so stairs are still a work in progress. She can go up with encouragement, but going down is still scary for her and she prefers to be carried. Her foster family is helping her practice, and she’s making slow, steady progress. She’s beginning to show her affectionate side—she now asks to be lifted onto the couch to cuddle, though she still waits patiently to be lifted down. Luna is also doing well with a consistent potty routine, going outside every 4–5 hours and thriving with structure. She enjoys daily walks, sleeps peacefully through the night in bed with her foster family, and is gentle with other dogs. She could happily live with another calm pet or be the cherished center of attention. Luna is looking for a patient, loving home that will celebrate her small victories and help her continue to blossom. The following are requirements of the family for Luna’s adoption: 1. Live in a house rather than an apartment or townhouse that has shared walls. 2. Be home much of the day so that Luna is left alone very little. 3. Be understanding of her separation anxiety and be willing to work with her on building her confidence to overcome it. 4. Be physically able to lift Luna up onto and off the sofa, chair or bed and also be able to carry her when navigating the stairs. 5. Allow her sleep with them in their bed at night. 6. Live within 30 minutes of Fridley, MN. 7. Agree to attend the annual rescue reunion held each year in September. Luna is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Her adoption fee is $320.00 plus $28.88 in sales tax, totaling $348.88. To meet Luna, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see Luna and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of every month at the Chuck & Don’s at 8537 Lyndale Avenue S. in Bloomington, MN.

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org ✨🐾 Meet Little Bit — Proof That the Best Things Come in Tiny, Fluffy Packages 🐾✨ (4 Years Old • Shih Tzu • 9 lbs • Male • Professional Shadow) If you’ve ever thought, “I’d really like a dog who quietly follows me around like a very cute cloud,” then Little Bit is about to be your dream come true. At just 9 pounds and 4 years old, Little Bit is sweet, gentle, and delightfully low-key. He’s the kind of pup who prefers soft beds, kind humans, and being exactly wherever you are — no chaos, no drama, no unnecessary barking commentary. Despite being surrendered for being “too energetic” (allegedly 🙃), Little Bit has shown us nothing but calm, quiet manners. Here, he’s more low to very medium energy — playful when invited, content to lounge when not, and always happy just to be included. His only “crime” was lightly chasing porch cats, which he would like the court to note was non-threatening...just a little, I wanta say 'hello'. 🐶 Little Bit’s Best Features: • Very sweet & submissive — gentle soul alert • Great with other dogs and respectful of everyone’s space • Not much of a barker — strong “peace and quiet” energy • Playful but not demanding — he reads the room like a pro • Small, delicate, and affectionate (handle with love & cuddles) Because he’s petite and submissive, Little Bit would do best in a home without small children — not because he’s grumpy, but because he’s more “porcelain teacup” than “rough-and-tumble toy.” He’d be perfect for someone looking for a loyal companion, a quiet buddy, or a furry little shadow who wants to be part of your daily routine. If you’re looking for a dog who will follow you from room to room, sit politely nearby, and occasionally remind you how adorable life can be… 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org — Little Bit is ready to be your tiny bestest furry friend. 🐾💖

Story
Meet Paisley 💛 Paisley is a 2-year-old Shih Tzu breeder release who is just beginning to discover how wonderful life can be in a loving home. She came in with her sister Piper and would love to stay together. She may be a little shy at first, but you can see her brave little heart shining through—she wants to trust, and once she does, she absolutely melts. When Paisley warms up, she becomes incredibly snuggly and will greet you with the sweetest tail wags that are impossible not to fall in love with. Paisley does wonderfully with other small dogs and is especially bonded to her sister, Piper. The two love to run around outside together and wrestle, and they also enjoy cozying up side-by-side on the couch. Because of their close bond, Paisley would truly thrive in a home where she can be adopted with Piper. She is doing great in her playpen—she sleeps there quietly at night with Piper and keeps her space clean when left during the day. Like many breeder release pups, she is still learning the basics of leash walking and potty training, but she’s making progress with gentle guidance and patience. At this time she needs a secure fence. Paisley’s ideal home will be calm, patient, and understanding—one where someone is home often and can continue helping her build confidence at her own pace. With a little time and a lot of love, Paisley is going to blossom into the most devoted little companion. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving pup (or better yet, a bonded pair!) to grow with and cherish, Paisley may be your perfect match. Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $350 plus tax, each.

Story
Piper is a 2-year-old Shih Tzu breeder release with a gentle, nurturing spirit and a quiet confidence that makes her extra special. She came into rescue with her sister Paisley. Piper is sweet, steady, and she truly embraces her role as “big sister”. Watching her with paisley is something special—they love to run and play in the backyard, wrestle in the snow, and then curl up together for the coziest snuggles. She gets along well with other small dogs and has been doing great with her routine. Piper sleeps quietly in a playpen with Paisley at night and keeps it clean when left during the day. She’s also doing well with potty training, though she’s still learning, and leash training is a work in progress. Piper already knows how to go up and down stairs and is gaining confidence more each day. She would thrive in a home that is patient and loving—one that will continue to support both her and Paisley as they grow and adjust. Because of their strong bond, Piper would love to be adopted with her sister Paisley. Together, they bring the perfect mix of playful joy and sweet companionship. At this time, we are requiring a fenced yard for the girls. We will accept applications for them separate but will give them time to get adopted together. 💛 If you’re looking for a loving pair who will fill your home with warmth, snuggles, and a little bit of playful chaos, Piper and Paisley might just be your perfect match. Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $350 plus tax.

Story
Hi my name is Riggy Moe and I am from Minnesota! Riggy Moe is a Senior Mini Schnauzer, she is very sweet and adorable!! She is full of personality and she is a social gal as she likes to make new friends. She does great with my other dogs as well. She also likes going for walks when the weather is nice. She is doing well with her housetraining and her crate training, I recently have let her run of my bedroom, kitchen and she has been doing well with that. She is used to sleeping on my bed with me as I have doggy stairs for her to use and she definitely let you know her place is on the bed, I affectionately call her my Sassy Princess! She is a wonderful companion dog who already has me wrapped around her little paw as I just adore her! From the Vet: Ms. Riggy Moe is a spunky senior gal ready to find her final forever home for her golden years. She has a history of keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye) and requires lifelong medication to keep her eyes comfortable and healthy. Her adopter will need to maintain consistent treatment and establish care with their primary veterinarian for ongoing eye management and monitoring. She has undergone extensive dental care, including numerous tooth extractions, to ensure her mouth is now healthy and pain-free. Upon arrival, Riggy Moe was underweight. After reaching a healthy weight, she successfully underwent surgery to repair a luxated (dislocated) left hip. She has recovered well, but her adopter should monitor her joint health long-term and keep her at a healthy weight to support mobility and comfort.
