We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

JJ was surrendered by his owner who could no longer care for him, and now he’s ready for a fresh start! He’s all about that outdoor life!  He would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children who can understand his needs and join him in adventures. JJ is house trained and crate trained, making him a fantastic addition to any family. He has a playful spirit and enjoys treats, so he’ll love to participate in training and bonding activities! Story
MEET BEATRIX! Beatrix is a charming 7-year-old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix weighing in at just 10 lbs. This sweet and reserved girl is on the lookout for her forever home after being surrendered by her owner when they had to move. Unfortunately, their new landlord didn't allow pets, but we know that Beatrix is ready to start a new chapter in her life! Beatrix may be a bit hesitant at first, but once she warms up, you'll see her true sweet nature shine through! She absolutely loves attention from her humans and enjoys being part of the family.  Beatrix is good on a leash, making walks an enjoyable experience, however she is not a dog that would do well in a tether as she prefers to be near you. She is house trained and is familiar with crate training, but she's used to being left loose in the home. Beatrix enjoys to play and likes to have a variety of toys to keep her entertained. Beatrix does well with other small dogs and has no issues with cats. While she enjoys the company of her fellow small canine companions, larger dogs can make her a little shy, so introducing her to new friends should be done gently. She would be ideal for families with older, dog-savvy children as she came from an adult-only home. Beatrix is a gentle companion who thrives on love and connection with her people. She also enjoys car rides, making her the perfect co-pilot for your adventures! As a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix, Beatrix will require regular grooming, but she handles grooming sessions like a champ! If you're looking for a loyal companion who will bring love and joy to your home, Beatrix is waiting for you! She's ready to find a place where she can be cherished and adored! Story
MEET WHITNEY! Age: 7 yearsWeight: 13 lbsBreed: Shih Tzu/Poodle mix Whitney was surrendered by her owner along with her two fur-siblings due to a sudden change in housing circumstances. Despite the upheaval in her life, Whitney remains a sweet girl who is ready to find her forever home. She may be a little shy when you first meet her, but don’t let that fool you! Her affectionate nature will shine once she feels comfortable in her new environment and she thrives on the attention from her people. Whitney does have a sweet yet vocal personality, so she would do best in a home setting rather than an apartment. Whitney is good on a leash and accustomed to going for walks with her people. She prefers not to be tethered and enjoys being a part of family activities. She does well with other small dogs and is looking for a home where she feels safe and confident, so she may need to be introduced carefully to larger dogs. A calm and steady household with a mature but active family would suit her best. She loves undivided attention and is used to being in a relaxed home setting—she is house trained and crate trained but prefers to roam freely. She has shown no interest in cats either.  Whitney still enjoys playing with toys and will require regular grooming to keep her coat looking its best. She is accustomed to grooming and will do well during those sessions. She also enjoys going for car rides, making her the perfect companion for adventures! Whitney is looking for a loving family who can offer her the attention and comfort she craves. If you’re ready to provide her with a stable and friendly environment, you’ll find a loyal companion in Whitney who will bring joy to your life every day. MEET JAX: Age:1 year  Weight: 7 lbs  Breed: Shih Tzu and Maltese mix   Meet Jax, a sweet and friendly little guy with a heart full of love! This charming fella has a playful spirit and thrives on companionship, not only with humans but also with other dogs and even cats. He does best in a home with older, dog-savvy children who can appreciate his playful nature. Jax is currently working on gaining some much-needed weight. One thing to note is that Jax doesn’t like being tethered; he prefers to be close to his humans instead. Jax would thrive in an active family that can provide him with the attention, love, and companionship he craves.
