MEET JJ: Introducing JJ, a charming 7-year-old, 12lb Poodle and Shih Tzu mix in search of his forever home! JJ was surrendered by his owner who could no longer care for him, and now he’s ready for a fresh start! This sweet and social boy loves the company of other dogs and is eager to be part of a loving family. JJ needs a fenced yard where he can enjoy the freedom to run and play, as he hasn’t had much experience with leash walks. He’s all about that outdoor life!  He would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children who can understand his needs and join him in adventures. JJ is house trained and crate trained, making him a fantastic addition to any family. He has a playful spirit and enjoys treats, so he’ll love to participate in training and bonding activities! If you’re looking for a sweet, social companion to brighten your days, JJ is the pup for you!  JJ is:Current on Rabies and DistemperDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedNeutered ADOPTION FEE: $350 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. Story
MEET BEATRIX! Beatrix is a charming 7-year-old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix weighing in at just 10 lbs. This sweet and reserved girl is on the lookout for her forever home after being surrendered by her owner when they had to move. Unfortunately, their new landlord didn't allow pets, but we know that Beatrix is ready to start a new chapter in her life! Beatrix may be a bit hesitant at first, but once she warms up, you'll see her true sweet nature shine through! She absolutely loves attention from her humans and enjoys being part of the family. She can be vocal at times when alerting you of unfamiliar sounds, so she would not do well in an apartment setting. Beatrix is good on a leash, making walks an enjoyable experience, however she is not a dog that would do well in a tether as she prefers to be near you. She is house trained and is familiar with crate training, but she's used to being left loose in the home. Beatrix enjoys to play and likes to have a variety of toys to keep her entertained. Beatrix does well with other small dogs and has no issues with cats. While she enjoys the company of her fellow small canine companions, larger dogs can make her a little shy, so introducing her to new friends should be done gently. She would be ideal for families with older, dog-savvy children as she came from an adult-only home. Beatrix is a gentle companion who thrives on love and connection with her people. She also enjoys car rides, making her the perfect co-pilot for your adventures! As a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix, Beatrix will require regular grooming, but she handles grooming sessions like a champ! If you're looking for a loyal companion who will bring love and joy to your home, Beatrix is waiting for you! She's ready to find a place where she can be cherished and adored! Beatrix is:Current on Rabies and DistemperDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedScheduled for spay surgery at one of our partner veterinary offices. ADOPTION FEE: $350 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. Story
MEET WHITNEY! Age: 7 yearsWeight: 13 lbsBreed: Shih Tzu/Poodle mix Whitney was surrendered by her owner along with her two fur-siblings due to a sudden change in housing circumstances. Despite the upheaval in her life, Whitney remains a sweet girl who is ready to find her forever home. She may be a little shy when you first meet her, but don’t let that fool you! Her affectionate nature will shine once she feels comfortable in her new environment and she thrives on the attention from her people. Whitney does have a sweet yet vocal personality, so she would do best in a home setting rather than an apartment. Whitney is good on a leash and accustomed to going for walks with her people. She prefers not to be tethered and enjoys being a part of family activities. She does well with other small dogs and is looking for a home where she feels safe and confident, so she may need to be introduced carefully to larger dogs. A calm and steady household with a mature but active family would suit her best. She loves undivided attention and is used to being in a relaxed home setting—she is house trained and crate trained but prefers to roam freely. She has shown no interest in cats either.  Whitney still enjoys playing with toys and will require regular grooming to keep her coat looking its best. She is accustomed to grooming and will do well during those sessions. She also enjoys going for car rides, making her the perfect companion for adventures! Whitney is looking for a loving family who can offer her the attention and comfort she craves. If you’re ready to provide her with a stable and friendly environment, you’ll find a loyal companion in Whitney who will bring joy to your life every day. We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. Story
Hey there, future best friend! My name is Cookie. I’m a Shih Tzu/Maltese mix with a long body like a dachshund. I am one year old and weigh around 15 lbs. I'm a young, playful pup with a heart full of love and a mouth full of puppy teeth! I'm still learning the ropes, but I'm a quick study. I'm a big fan of an endless game of fetch and chasing my furry friends around the yard. I'm a snuggle bug and can’t wait to cuddle up with my favorite humans. I'm also a bit of a goofball and like to play silly games. I'm still working on my manners, but I'm always eager to please and ready to learn. I'm looking for a loving family who can keep up with my energy level. Any children in the home will need to be 13 years old or older. I'd love to have a furry sibling to play with, but it's not a must. A fenced-in yard would be paw-some, but I'm adaptable. I can make the most of any situation as long as I can still get my exercise. So, if you're ready to add a little puppy love to your life, I'm your pup! Let's go on adventures together!" If you are interested in Cookie and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
