Story
Benny is ready to find his forever home! He was born around June 2025, he is a shih tzu who loves playing with his foster dog sisters, car trips, walks, and treats! He is the best sleeping partner and sleeps all night long without a peep. He is doing pretty well with potty training, but still has accidents here and there because he really does not like to go outside when it is cold and dark, but who can blame him!?! Benny will require a home within 30 minutes of Toledo, where someone can spend a great deal of time with him and who has the patience to go outside to ensure he goes potty. He likes to explore, so a fenced yard where he can run around and get his zoomies out is a must. A vet check and home visit will be required to ensure Benny finds the best ‘best friend’ he deserves. Due to high volume, inquiries made on petfinder and adoptapet will not be answered. Please complete an application on our website https://toledospetbullproject.com/adoption/

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bambi is an adorable young Shih Tzu.  At only 1-1/2 years old, she has been a momma two times over.  Her babies have all been adopted and now it's her turn to enjoy life as a pampered pooch.  Bambi needs a gentle touch and patient adopter who will let her progress at her own pace.  She needs some time to warm up to new people and tends to be a bit barky until she is comfortable.  She also barks an alert at newcomers to the home, so probably isn't apartment appropriate.  She seems to do well on a leash and enjoys her walks.  She appears to be house trained, but will need reinforcing of good potty habits.  Bambi was introduced to 4 other small dogs and did well with them, spending much of the time playing with them.  But Bambi is very frightened of big dogs, so please don't apply to adopt her if you have dogs over 20 pounds.  Bambi is visiting the veterinarian for a physical and needed vaccines.  She will be scheduled for spay surgery as soon as possible.  Bambi will also need regular, ongoing grooming which is an additional cost that should be considered in her overall care.     Happy Days Dog & Cat Rescue requires a Spay/Neuter Contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization at the time of adoption. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. HDDCR holds a deposit [$50 for dogs, $25 for cats] in addition to the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog or cat was spayed/neutered by the date stipulated on the Spay/Neuter Contract. The deposit will be refunded to the adopter if spay/neuter was done according to the Spay/Neuter Contract signed by the adopter. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee, paid at the time of adoption.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
