Story
**Meet Queso!** Queso is a 10-month-old, 10.5 pound female Shih Tzu / Brussels Griffon mix (best guess based on appearance) with a heart full of love and a personality that will steal yours! She’s an adorable little fuzz ball with a funky nose and underbite that add to her quirky charm. She’s just such a happy pup and loves everyone! Despite her young age, Queso is already house-trained, having only had one accident indoors early on and sometimes when she’s so excited to be getting attention since she didn’t get much in her former home... She’s also crate-trained and sleeps peacefully through the night in her kennel without making a sound. She's not the biggest fan of being groomed, especially around her eyes, so she'll need to go to a professional! This playful pup doesn’t bark—though she may let out a cute little whine if she needs something like toys to play with. She is a chewer & can be destructive when she gets into things if unsupervised, so her new people will have to continue with her training (especially crating when alone), exercise her well, and provide her with lots of chew toys!  She adores other dogs and is always eager to make new furry friends, however, her energy can be too much for some dogs, so she won't be a good match for a home with older dogs or lazy dogs that won't tolerate her high energy / play with her all the time. Queso is great with kids, although her playful energy might be a bit overwhelming for very young children, so a home with kids aged 5 or older would be ideal. She doesn't mind cats, but if the cat runs, she will definitely chase and her high energy can be too much for cats! For that reason, she will not be suitable for a home with feline friends.  With her endless energy, Queso loves to play and will need an active home where she can run and burn off some of that puppy excitement. She does tend to jump up for attention, but listens well when corrected. On walks, she’s generally a good leash walker, though she might tug a bit out of curiosity. Queso rides well in the car and is quick to settle down and nap in the back seat. While she’s still learning basic commands like “go to bed” (for the crate) and “down,” she’s a quick learner and eager to please. Queso’s absolute love for life is contagious—she adores people, dogs, and just about everything else. She loves attention and affection, and nothing makes her happier than cuddling up at your feet or being near her humans. Though she’s not an escape artist, a fenced yard would be best to ensure her safety when she’s playing outdoors. She would thrive in most loving homes, whether it’s with a family or a single person, and would do well with or without another dog that can tolerate her in the home. Would be best if she's not in a city setting as she's never been exposed to that and can be frightening. While she’s full of energy now, with consistent love and attention, she’ll likely calm down and could potentially be a great work buddy in the future. Queso is a little love bug who’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and plenty of snuggles to her forever family! Story
We found Koko a couple of months ago and decided to bring her in as a gift to my Grandmother whom we felt needed a small companion to keep her company since she’s getting a little older and lives alone. But due to her escalating health issues she can no longer care for Koko, we took Koko in for my grandmother hoping she’d get better but, the odds at the moment aren’t in our favor. We live in an animal loving household but we cannot afford any space for Koko to stay with us here :/ we just have too many at the moment. It’s been about 30 days since she’s been with us and she’s been so amazing here but with everything going on we’d rather give her a better chance.

Story
MishMish :) This 4 year old angel, and we mean that in every sense of the word, is good with every creature, and will boldly, but appropriately, correct a dog that gets in her face. She will stand on both hind legs, paddle in the air and demand to be carried :) She can be anxious when crated and will bark, but is as happy as can be if kept in a different type of enclosure like gated off in a kitchen. She needs a dental because lord knows what she was being fed or how she lived in PA. Priority placement consideration for MishMish is for potential adopters with an already approved application. If you're within a maximum distance of 10 miles of zip code 20906, have less than 3 dogs at home and would like to foster MishMish then apply at this link: https://bit.ly/4d7XoKd Another reminder in case you missed it: Priority placement consideration for MishMish is for potential adopters with an already approved application.

Story
Who's gray and white and ready to snuggle with her people all day? I'll give you a hint ... it's me! My name is Chloe, and I'm looking for a furever home that has a lifetime supply of belly rubs, sunny patches for naps, and fancy dog treats.Aside from being adorable, I am also deaf, so I'm most comfortable when people approach me from the front so I can see them coming. Like anyone else, I'm not a big fan of having anybody sneak up behind me! I LOVE to be with people and will happily spend the day by your side (especially if you're good at giving belly rubs). I don't mind other dogs, but I would also be fine as an only pup getting your love all to myself. I will need eye ointment twice a day, but I really enjoy having it applied! I do well on a leash for walks, but prefer not to be in a crate -- I'll wait for you to come home from any outing by napping on the couch instead. Toys aren't really my thing, but I will NEVER say no to a good treat! So, if you find yourself with extra love to give, you should come and take me home. I'll take all the love you've got!If you'd like to take me home, please fill out an adoption application at this website - https://animalalliesrescue.org/dog-application - and choose me, Chloe! My adoption fee is $150 and AARF wants me to tell you that their adoption package covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like me for our forever homes. By the time you meet us, we've already been spayed/neutered (if age-appropriate) and microchipped. We've been checked by a veterinarian, and we're up to date on age-appropriate immunizations against rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus). We've been tested for heartworm and other tick borne diseases (4DX), and we've started our heartworm and flea preventive medications. Some of us have had extensive surgeries, dental work, or other necessary procedures. AARF is committed to getting all of us entirely ready for a happy, healthy, love-filled life!

Story
Hi, my name is Izzie and my foster pawrents say that I'm just the sweetest little girl! I ended up at the shelter labeled as a stray - whatever that is. That is where I started my journey as a Miri's Haven dog. I've already moved on from my stray era and I'm totally in my glow up era. (humble brag - sorry, not sorry) My loves in life are food, being with people, and a quick run through the yard followed by a snooze. I'm pretty good at pottying outside but sometimes you have to remind me and I don't mind if you put pee pads out for me. I'm great with the dogs and cats here at my foster pawrents' house. Sometimes I holler at the other dogs if they try to bother me when I'm sleeping. I also think that everyone should share their food with me but they don't seem to agree. I'm also an expert splooter and hoping they add it to the Olympics so I can compete in LA. I take one pill a day for Cushing's and don't even mind it beacause it's an extra snackie. If you would you like to take me on some adventures, I would love to follow you!
