You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Thank you for your interest in a Home At Last Sanctuary, Inc. animal.  STOP!!! READ!! The ENTIRE DESCRIPTION before you inquire. Do not call, email, txt, send an inquiry through any other website complete our online application FIRST. http://hals.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=3016 Visit our official website(s) here HomeAtLastSanctuary.ORG or HALS.RescueGroups.ORG There is a complete our application only. We estimate Newton almost three years old.  He is 25 pounds, neutered, up-to-date in vaccinations.  We do not know much about his past before he was picked up as a stray dog by Baltimore County shelter.  He was extremely and painfully matted, not neutered, and had an amical hernia.  It was necessary to shave his matting off under sedation so this was done when he was neutered and had his amical hernia repaired.  In the shelter he was very scared and still had not forgotten the pain he suffered from his matted coat.  His coat requires regular grooming to prevent getting matted again.  He is extremely fearful of grooming.  We have been working with him in his foster home and he is getting better.  He will require a family that understands his past trauma and has experience with dogs to help him fully recover.  Newton would like to have a home with a yard where he can spend some time running around.    Newton would not do well in apartment/Condo life.  He needs to have a house with a yard. He seems to be energetic and active and a bit mouthy so he would not do well with young children. Newton is an active, happy, playful dog that gets along well with his new foster brothers.  He is an amazingly affectionate dog. He seems to want to and will climb into your lap to be close to you.  He like to be in touch with his people either on the lap, next to and touching on the couch, and very close in bed at night with his warm body. We had an animal communicator do a reading on Newton.  What we think from this encounter that Newton is missing his family.  We think something happened to his owner and a caregiver may have let Newton go astray.  His condition would indicate that he was long overdue for required grooming.  WHEN AN APPLICATION TO ADOPT IS APPROVED WE BRING NEWTON TO THE HOME VISIT AND MEET AND GREET, AND IF ANOTHER ANIMAL A SNIFF TEST.  WE DO NOT PLACE DOGS ON THIS VISIT. WE RETURN IF THERE WILL BE AN ADOPTION WHEN EVERYONE IS PREPARED TO ADOPT .  WE ONLY TRAVEL UP TO A ONE HOUR DRIVE FROM ROCKVILLE MD TO PLACE ANIMALS. Story
Who`s gray and white and ready to snuggle with her people all day? I`ll give you a hint ... it`s me! My name is Chloe, and I`m looking for a furever home that has a lifetime supply of belly rubs, sunny patches for naps, and fancy dog treats.Aside from being adorable, I am also deaf, so I`m most comfortable when people approach me from the front so I can see them coming. Like anyone else, I`m not a big fan of having anybody sneak up behind me! I LOVE to be with people and will happily spend the day by your side (especially if you`re good at giving belly rubs). I don`t mind other dogs, but I would also be fine as an only pup getting your love all to myself. I will need eye ointment twice a day, but I really enjoy having it applied! I do well on a leash for walks, but prefer not to be in a crate -- I`ll wait for you to come home from any outing by napping on the couch instead. Toys aren`t really my thing, but I will NEVER say no to a good treat! So, if you find yourself with extra love to give, you should come and take me home. I`ll take all the love you`ve got!If you`d like to take me home, please fill out an adoption application at this website – https://animalalliesrescue.org/dog-application – and choose me, Chloe! My adoption fee is $150 and AARF wants me to tell you that their adoption package covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like me for our forever homes. By the time you meet us, we’ve already been spayed/neutered (if age-appropriate) and microchipped. We’ve been checked by a veterinarian, and we’re up to date on age-appropriate immunizations against rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus). We’ve been tested for heartworm and other tick borne diseases (4DX), and we’ve started our heartworm and flea preventive medications. Some of us have had extensive surgeries, dental work, or other necessary procedures. AARF is committed to getting all of us entirely ready for a happy, healthy, love-filled life!

Story
Looking for a little fluff and a lot of personality? Meet Charlie, the 11-year-old Shih Tzu with a heart-shaped marking on his forehead (because why wouldn’t he be that cute?). Don’t let his age fool you—this guy has the energy of a young pup. He’s your personal, furry shadow who follows you around, always ready for belly rubs, naps, and the occasional snack. Car rides? He’s a road-trip enthusiast who will happily go anywhere you`re willing to take him. Charlie’s housebreaking skills are almost flawless. Crates? Not his favorite. But don’t worry, he’s working on it like a pro athlete training for the Olympics (kind of). When it comes to walks, he’s the best-behaved dog in town—no pulling, just enjoying the view like he’s strolling down the red carpet. He’s great with kids (he loves getting pets) and adores his dog foster buddy, Fox. He’s calm with other dogs—no drama, just straight-up good vibes.Training-wise, Charlie’s got the basics down: he knows “come,” “stay,” “time to eat,” and “bedtime.” But “sit”? Nah, he prefers to stand there looking ridiculously cute and waiting for you to do all the hard work. As for food, he’s picky—he’s not about that veggie life or people food. Give him a bully stick, though, and you’ll see a tail wag that could power a small fan.Charlie’s the perfect mix of energy and chill. He’ll keep you on your toes with his playful antics, but he’s also the king of naps and will cuddle with you like it’s his full-time job. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-maintenance companion who thinks he’s still a pup (but with more naps), Charlie’s your guy. He’s ready to bring his heart-shaped love (and occasional snore) into your home.If you`d like to take Charlie home, please fill out an adoption application on AARF`s website - https://animalalliesrescue.org/dog-application! Charlie`s adoption fee is $150.By the time you meet your furry friend, they`ll already be spayed/neutered (if age appropriate), microchipped, and thoroughly checked by a veterinarian. They`ll be up to date on all necessary vaccinations, including rabies and DHLPP. They`ll also have been tested for heartworm and tick-borne diseases (4DX) and have started their heartworm and flea preventative meds. Some of our dogs have even undergone extensive medical care to ensure they`re read for a happy, healthy life with you!
