Story
Clyde is a perky little guy with loads of personality!  He loves snuggling, rolling over, getting belly rubs, and sleeping in bed with his human.  He likes to follow his human around, not always needing attention but being near them.  He is completely housetrained and knows several commands such as sit, down, and come. He takes treats very gently and shows no food or toy aggression.  He walks easily on the leash and loves going for walks.  He is a smart little boy who learns easily and seems to enjoy learning. At his fosters he loves to sit in the window seat and watch the world go by.  He is playful in the house and able to entertain himself with small toys. He is a good boy when left alone and will take a nap until his person comes home. Clyde was found wandering the streets dirty and matted.  He is now recovering from his ordeal.  As his coat starts to grow back you can see the adorable fuzzy guy he really is.  Clyde is 4 years old and 15 pounds.  He needs to get to know people on his own terms - he doesn't like people approaching him but prefers to do the approaching.  When he feels safe he will happily approach you for pets and snuggles. Clyde seems to get along well with bigger, calm dogs when properly introduced.  We think a confident dog would help him feel safer and more confident but he will also be fine as an only dog.  He also shows a positive attitude when he meets cats and we think he might have lived with cats before.  Clyde deserves a home where he will get the peace and security he deserves.  He will need consistent training and is doing well with medication that has made him feel secure.  He needs dog-experienced, adult-only adopter(s) who will work on training with him. PAW would like to find an adopter or foster-to-adopt for Clyde and will support an adopter with training. ##2163345##

Story
This darling girl was found wandering the street and PAW scooped her up to find her forever home.  Little Lottie is estimated to be about 8 years old and weighs 10 pounds.  She is a sweet girl who comes to people easily for pets.  She enjoys being carried around like a little pocket pup.  Lottie walks well on the leash with a cute bounce in her step. Lottie did not react to other pups in the shelter but we are still getting to know her.  She will be with a short term foster as she recovers from her neutering and we will update more.  If you are interested in adopting or fostering her act quickly!  With a little girl this cute and sweet she will get snapped up! PAW adopts to the local VA/ DC/ MD area. ##2189194##

Story
Mimisiku (Mimi for short) is a sweet 7 year old Shih Tzu mix that is in need of a very patient owner who is better equipped financially to care of her needs and give her lots of personal attention. We are her second home, we got her when she was about 2 years old but we are relocating and unable to keep her any longer. She's not aggressive in any way around children but doesn't like to share the attention. She's also not much of a barker however will be very vocal when she wants something! She likes long walks but will sucker you into carrying her ( she's a little stubborn) and while she can be very playful she doesn't care for toys or bones. She loves fruit (mangoes, apples and cucumbers are her favorite) spaghetti, chips and french fries but will settle for bite sized chewy snacks. She is very affectionate and welcomes lots of belly rubs and cuddles. She will do best with someone who is very patient and can give her lots of personal attention.

Story
Tiffany was in pretty bad condition when we picked her up from the PG shelter in December. She weighed just 6 ½ pounds and had recently been shaved due to being matted. Her eyes were in AWFUL condition and as a result, she has had multiple eye surgeries. She had her left eye removed and can only see shadows and movement with her right eye. She will need to continue with eye drops multiple times a day for the rest of her life. She doesn’t mind getting the drops in but does not like to have her eye cleaned. She also has some allergies and is currently receiving a Cytopoint shot as needed and periodic medicated baths. She lives with 2 other small dogs and gets along well with them. I am not sure about cats and she would be best with kids over 12 years old. When the dogs start barking, she joins in and continues even after the “threat” is gone since she has no idea why she’s barking..lol. Tiffany adjusted to her surroundings quickly and has her own room where we feed her and have pee pads laid out for her. She LOVES to eat!! She will let you know when it is mealtime and we have not found any food she does not like!! She has free rein of the home and is non-destructive when left alone (on average about 6-7 hours a day). She sleeps in my bed at night along with the rest of the dogs! I have not crated her at all. She needs to be carried down the stairs but is able to go up the stairs on her own. If there are stairs in the home, there must be a gate to prevent her from falling. We use steps for her to get on and off the couch. She loves to be on the bed and will let you know when she needs to be lifted up. She has recently started playing with toys and tries to play with her doggie siblings every once in a while but she just keeps barking in their face and they don’t understand what she wants. She gets happy feet when she gets excited. She also greets us at the door when we get home! She walks well on leash but is rather slow because she loves to stop and sniff everything. She also has a doggie stroller that she likes to sit in and also likes to be carried. She wants to be in the same room as you and prefers to be laying on a pillow or on your lap. We think she should have an older doggie sibling so she is never alone. She definitely likes to be part of a pack. If you would like to add her to yours, apply today! Story
Sweetie was adopted October 2024. Thanks to everyone who put in inquiries and applications for Sweetie. Due to the extremely high volume of emails and applications, we apologize that we were unable to respond to everyone individually. At this time, she has been adopted. My name is Sweetie. I am female and about 2 years old. I am a 10-pound Shih-Tzu-Havanese mix. My name should be Snuggles or Cuddles because I love to snuggle and cuddle and get ear scratches and tummy rubs. I get along well with the 3 dogs in the house—2 chihuahuas and a Yorkie. I even get along with other little dogs that come to visit. I am house trained: I follow the other dogs into the yard and back into the house. I love to run in the back yard to chase squirrels and deer, play tug-of-war with my stuffed animals and chew on my favorite bone. I am a little timid when meeting people for the first time, so I need to take my time to get to know you. But once I know you, I will smother you with kisses. My Profile Age: 2 years Weight: 10 lbs Good with kids: I’m good with kids over 14 years old Good with dogs: Yes, especially small (15lbs or smaller) Good with cats: Unknown Fenced yard: Preferred Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: Yes House trained: Yes, she behaves with the pack Crate trained: No, but she sleeps in her crate Barks when left alone: No, but she gets anxious when left alone and will chew/eat anything left unattended Chews inappropriate items: No Training: I'm still working on it, but I know how to sit! Activity level: Medium Meet Me If you are interested in Sweetie, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application. Please consult our Adoption FAQ before contacting us.
