Story
Hi - My name is Cody and I am a new member of the AARF family. I am a Shih Tzu mix, but because I am brand new to these parts, there`s not much more known about me or my personality just yet. If you check back a little later, I`m sure my foster parents will have a lot more information to post about me. If you have any questions, though, feel free to send an email to info@animalalliesrescue.org.   or if you just think it`s love at first sight, please fill out an adoption application at this site - http://www.animalalliesrescue.org and choose me - Cody!My adoption fee is $350 and AARF wants me to tell you that their adoption package covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like me for our forever homes. By the time you meet us, we’ve already been spayed/neutered (if age appropriate) and microchipped. We’ve been checked by a veterinarian, and we’re up to date on age appropriate immunizations against rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus). We’ve been tested for heartworm and other tick borne diseases (4DX), and we’ve started our heartworm and flea preventive medications. Some of us have had extensive surgeries, dental work, or other necessary procedures. AARF is committed to getting all of us entirely ready for a happy, healthy, love-filled life!

Story
Who`s gray and white and ready to snuggle with her people all day? I`ll give you a hint ... it`s me! My name is Chloe, and I`m looking for a furever home that has a lifetime supply of belly rubs, sunny patches for naps, and fancy dog treats.Aside from being adorable, I am also deaf, so I`m most comfortable when people approach me from the front so I can see them coming. Like anyone else, I`m not a big fan of having anybody sneak up behind me! I LOVE to be with people and will happily spend the day by your side (especially if you`re good at giving belly rubs). I don`t mind other dogs, but I would also be fine as an only pup getting your love all to myself. I will need eye ointment twice a day, but I really enjoy having it applied! I do well on a leash for walks, but prefer not to be in a crate -- I`ll wait for you to come home from any outing by napping on the couch instead. Toys aren`t really my thing, but I will NEVER say no to a good treat! So, if you find yourself with extra love to give, you should come and take me home. I`ll take all the love you`ve got!If you`d like to take me home, please fill out an adoption application at this website – https://animalalliesrescue.org/dog-application – and choose me, Chloe! My adoption fee is $150 and AARF wants me to tell you that their adoption package covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like me for our forever homes. Story
Clyde is a perky little guy with loads of personality!  He loves snuggling, rolling over, getting belly rubs, and sleeping in bed with his human.  He likes to follow his human around, not always needing attention but being near them.  He is completely housetrained and knows several commands such as sit, down, and come. He takes treats very gently and shows no food or toy aggression.  He walks easily on the leash and loves going for walks.  He is a smart little boy who learns easily and seems to enjoy learning. At his fosters he loves to sit in the window seat and watch the world go by.  He is playful in the house and able to entertain himself with small toys. He is a good boy when left alone and will take a nap until his person comes home. Clyde was found wandering the streets dirty and matted.  He is now recovering from his ordeal.  As his coat starts to grow back you can see the adorable fuzzy guy he really is.  Clyde is 4 years old and 15 pounds.  He needs to get to know people on his own terms - he doesn't like people approaching him but prefers to do the approaching.  When he feels safe he will happily approach you for pets and snuggles. Clyde seems to get along well with bigger, calm dogs.  We think a confident dog would help him feel safer and more confident but he will also be fine as an only dog.  He also does well when he meets cats and we think he might have lived with cats before.  Clyde deserves a home where he will get the peace and security he deserves.  He will need consistent training and is doing well with medication that has made him feel secure.  He needs dog-experienced, adult-only adopter(s) who will work on training with him. PAW would like to find an adopter or foster-to-adopt for Clyde and will support an adopter with training. ##2163345##

Name: Lucy Sex: Female Estimated Age: 3 years old Best Guess for Breed: Shih Tzu Mix Weight: About 8 lbs Lives With: Dogs and people! Housebroken? Lucy is potty trained and crate trained. Story: Lucy was rescued from a shelter in Oklahoma. We are so happy to have her safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Lucy is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. We haven’t seen her interact with cats yet, but happy to test her out if you have them. She knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with her humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Lucy is just looking for someone to be her new best furend and we know that she will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Lucy will need an adopter who is committed to setting her up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising her both mentally and physically. She will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! The fee to adopt Lucy is $450. That covers the cost of all her vaccines, the collar she’s wearing, her transport to DC and her care in her foster home. She’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. Lucy has been seen by a shelter vet and has been given a clean bill of health. If you think that Lucy might be your perfect match, apply today!December 22, 2024, 5:37 pm

Story
Stitch was returned to us after being in a home for over a year. He is a very sweet little boy who takes awhile to warm up to new people. Once he knows you he gets will give kisses and sit by you side all day. He is nervous at times so he needs a dog savvy caregiver who is home most of the time with him. He is ok when meeting other dogs and cats but believe he would do best in a home where he is the only dog. He is housebroken and loves to play with his toys and go for walks.

Newton is looking for a family that has had dog experience. If you do not have dogs now or have not owned a dog in  the last five years, and or if you have children, Newton may not be the right dog for your family. Newton would like to have a home with a yard where he can spend some time running around.    He is an amazingly affectionate dog. Newton is a mixed breed we presume to be Shih-Tzu / Poodle mix.  He is around 23 pounds neutered and up to date with all vaccinations.  Newton ended up in a local shelter completely matted and in pain.  He was shaved down, neutered and had imbecile hernia repair.  He was too stressed out in the shelter so they reached out for a rescue group to help him.  We got there as soon as we can. Newton is an active, happy, playful dog that gets along well with his new foster brothers.  He seems to be energetic and active and a bit mouthy so he would not do well with young children. Look back here for more information as we get to know him better. Newton is a very affectionate companion.  He seems to want to and will climb into your lap to be close to you.  He like to be in touch with his people either on the lap, next to and touching on the couch, and very close in bed at night with his warm body. WHEN AN APPLICATION TO ADOPT IS APPROVED WE BRING NEWTON TO THE HOME VISIT AND MEET AND GREET, AND IF ANOTHER ANIMAL A SNIFF TEST.  WE DO NOT PLACE DOGS ON THIS VISIT. Story
Zoboomafoo is a chonky little dude who has a story to tell but we really don’t speak “woof” too well! A kind person saw him struggling and helped him to safety. Since he arrived, he’s been a dear little gent who is patiently waiting for a hero. He is so very friendly, gentle, goofy, and sweet that caring for him is an honor – plus he seems so appreciative of the love and attention. Zoboomafoo needs adopters that have the resources and love to help him live the BEST life that he deserves. And he has the type of hair that keeps growing so he needs to see the doggie groomer every few months to keep his hair free from painful mattings. He’s a high maintenance pooch but he is worth it! Ready to be the good person who takes home this wee angel and give him the best life ever? He looks forward to meeting you soon.
