Story
We have a joke for you. What`s black and white and CUTE all over? It`s TROOPER! Trooper is a 6-year-old black-and-white pup with a killer underbite, who’s equal parts cuddle buddy and curious explorer ???? This sweet poodle-ish/Shih Tzu-ish mix loves being near his people, happily following you from room to room before settling in on a cozy dog bed (or his crate) when it’s time to relax. Trooper enjoys walks where he can sniff to his heart’s content, will bring soft toys back for another toss, and doesn’t mind car rides one bit. He’s also a good boy at the vet and groomer, and he already knows his name, comes when called indoors, and will sit politely for treats.Trooper can be timid with new people and may bark or keep his distance at first, and loud noises (like thunderstorms) might make him uneasy - who likes those skybooms anyhow? He`s working on his housebreaking (who isn`t, amaright?) so consistency and routine is key (same). He`s working on his leash manners, but with a face like that, you`re gonna wanna carry him part of the way anyhow. Trooper will thrive in a calmer home with adopters who help him feel safe and celebrate his progress along the way - frankly, we can`t wait to `read all about it` (get it?).If you’d like to take this sweet boy home, please fill out an adoption application at this link – https://animalalliesrescue.org/dog-application. The adoption fee is $300 and covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like this one for their forever homes. By the time you meet them, they’ve already been spayed/neutered (if age-appropriate) and microchipped. They’ve been checked by a veterinarian and are up to date on necessary vaccinations, including Rabies and DHLPP. They have also been tested for heartworm and tick-borne diseases and have started heartworm and flea preventative medication. Some of our dogs have even undergone extensive medical care to ensure they’re ready for a happy, healthy life with you!

Story
'Nauti' Girl!MEET VALENCIA!   This little lady’s world was rocked earlier in December when her owner was deported and she found herself scared and alone in the shelter. The outpouring of empathy and support for her and her situation was heartwarming, and she quickly found her way into a very experienced foster home with four other small dogs (some of whom had had similar, stressful backgrounds) and multiple cats. There she has had the time to settle, destress and come to life again. She is now back to what we believe is her true-self; a playful little gal who will roll over for tummy rubs for her (adult) human and play with her toys to entertain herself. Her favorite is stealing a nautical rope ball her foster mom has on a table, thus “Nauti” girl. Ha!   Valencia is bi-lingual having come to Tara’s House familiar with basic commands in Spanish and is picking up their English translations (Sit and Down, for instance). She enjoys hanging out with and playing with her foster-siblings, both canine and feline varieties. She sleeps through the night and has gone into an open crate to rest on her own several times (although she is not crated otherwise.)     Valencia has had some stress in her life and it sometimes manifests in her being fearful of new people (or even people who aren’t her main care-giver). She should not go to a home with children (most small dogs shouldn’t) and would do best in a home that can give her consistency as well as love. We think she would do best with another small dog in the home, as she could use the confidence that a canine relationship can bring and she seems to genuinely like other dogs. She is fearful at times so needs a strong leader that can show her that her human has things under control.   Valencia’s adoption donation fee is $450, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for her by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.April 7, 2026, 6:49 pm

Story
Teddy is a wonderful little guy-very friendly, housebroken-really just perfect. Will need grooming and loves lots of love. Have not seen with young children but is having a fun spring break with his teenager foster. Would be perfectly happy being the only dog in the home-he has been ok with some calm dogs but may not want to be with a playful dog. PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing or "inquiring" is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. The adoption fee is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative, heartworm test if age appropriate and spay/neuter. All of our dogs will be microchipped. Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment

✨🐾 Meet Little Bit — Proof That the Best Things Come in Tiny, Fluffy Packages 🐾✨ (4 Years Old • Shih Tzu • 9 lbs • Male • Professional Shadow) If you’ve ever thought, “I’d really like a dog who quietly follows me around like a very cute cloud,” then Little Bit is about to be your dream come true. At just 9 pounds and 4 years old, Little Bit is sweet, gentle, and delightfully low-key. He’s the kind of pup who prefers soft beds, kind humans, and being exactly wherever you are — no chaos, no drama, no unnecessary barking commentary. Despite being surrendered for being “too energetic” (allegedly 🙃), Little Bit has shown us nothing but calm, quiet manners. Here, he’s more low to very medium energy — playful when invited, content to lounge when not, and always happy just to be included. His only “crime” was lightly chasing porch cats, which he would like the court to note was non-threatening...just a little, I wanta say 'hello'. 🐶 Little Bit’s Best Features: • Very sweet & submissive — gentle soul alert • Great with other dogs and respectful of everyone’s space • Not much of a barker — strong “peace and quiet” energy • Playful but not demanding — he reads the room like a pro • Small, delicate, and affectionate (handle with love & cuddles) Because he’s petite and submissive, Little Bit would do best in a home without small children — not because he’s grumpy, but because he’s more “porcelain teacup” than “rough-and-tumble toy.” He’d be perfect for someone looking for a loyal companion, a quiet buddy, or a furry little shadow who wants to be part of your daily routine. If you’re looking for a dog who will follow you from room to room, sit politely nearby, and occasionally remind you how adorable life can be… 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org — Little Bit is ready to be your tiny bestest furry friend. 🐾💖

Story
*** COURTESY POST ONLY *** Meet Beau, a little bundle of fur with a big personality! This adorable 9-lb Shih Tzu has had a rough start in life, but that hasn't dampened his spirits. He just needs a little time to warm up and show his true colors.  In his foster home, Beau has shown his foster mom just how loving he can be. He enjoys following her around, snuggling up close, and giving kisses. Beau is a curious boy who loves to watch the world go by from the comfort of a windowsill. He's also a pro at napping and can imitate a buzz saw with his snoring!  Beau is a well-mannered boy who walks nicely on a leash and enjoys car rides. He's even housetrained! He seems to get along with other dogs, but he would prefer a quiet home with experienced dog owners who can give him the time and patience he needs to settle in and feel safe.  If you're looking for a loyal companion to shower with love and cuddles, Beau could be the perfect match for you. He's a little charmer with a big heart, and he's just waiting for his forever family to find him. Could you be the one to give Beau the happy ending he deserves? Beau is a COURTESY POST only and not available for adoption through AHOTO.   Beau is adoptable through Caring Hearts Rescue.
