Surprise! She’s listed as a shihtzu/terrier mix, but arrived looking more like a Cairn terrier mix. One thing that hasn’t changed is she’s 100% Adorable! Winnie loves to be with her person and is happy to be the fun police. Lol! It’s the mommy in her, just trying to keep order.        She’s getting along with pups from 3 months old to 15 years old.        Sleeps in bed with the pack after only a few days of decompressing.    Completely potty trained.    Has been crated for 4 1/2 hours (and overnight to sleep when she first arrived).  Such a good, sweet girl!   Unknown on cats-let us know if you’d like us to test her. September 6, 2024, 9:57 pm

Eugene is a senior shih tzu mix, but you’d never know he is an older guy! He keeps right up with his younger and bigger friends, whether that is play time or nap time.    Eugene loves to be where his friends are. Who are his friends? Well, I’ve yet to see him meet a man, woman, child, dog or cat that he doesn’t want to be friends with!    Eugene doesn’t have any teeth at all, but that doesn’t stop him from snagging kibble from his girlfriends or trying any treat or snack he can get! And, it makes his tongue stick out just a bit in the cutest way.    His only negatives are that he has some accidents and he’s an itchy boy. A daily OTC allergy medication helps some, but he does get a bit lucky sometimes!September 6, 2024, 9:57 pm

Hi. I'm Bitzee, a 9 y/o golden/white female shitsu. I'm part of a bonded pair with my 13 y/o chi mix Judah Chase. You see, our owner had to go into hospice care and it broke her heart to give us up. She made the rescue lady promise to adopt us together as we have always lived in the same household and don't know any different. My brother and I get along very well and it is kind of like getting 2 for the price of 1. I am currently about 4 pounds overweight ( currently 14 pounds) but foster Mom is diligently working on that with me. Despite being overweight, I am playful and like to go for walks. I had previously lived in an apartment and hadn't been able to get much exercise because of my owner's health. I had been going potty on potty pads but am now learning to go outside through the doggy door. My brother has already mastered the doggy door and I should soon. I like to go for car rides and am kennel trained. I am able to be kept unkenneled without being destructive and am not a huge barker. I am extremely loyal and like to follow my human around. I am good with children and other small dogs. It is unknown as to how I would do with large dogs or cats since foster mom doesn't have either. So, if you are interested in a bonded pair of small dogs, have your peeps contact my peeps and let's get this love fest started. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Buford!   This little male Shih Tzu, approximately 4 yrs old, came into rescue when his elderly owner could no longer care for him.    This little man is super chill and calm.  He is also cute, quiet and cuddly. Buford likes to follow his foster Mom from room to room. During his walks, Buford greets with a tail wag every dog and person he sees. He has become very popular with the neighborhood kids.     When in the house, Buford enjoys looking out the door or window to watch the world go by. He also likes to play with his toys. He has gotten used to spending time in his crate when his foster leaves the house. He does best if his crate is situated near a window or door. He sleeps in bed with his foster mom and is very snuggly.    He is UTD on vaccinations and scheduled to be neutered in October. He is making good progress in his potty training. He does go to the door whenever he needs to potty. Sally is a very sweet 7 year old Shih Tzu. She can see but seems to have cataracts developing on her eyes. She came to us from a breeder that is trying to do the right thing and retire.   Sally is currently in a foster home so if you would like to meet her please contact the humane society to set up a time.   If you would like to meet any of our pets, they are available for viewing, every single day from noon until 3:30pm.
