Despite his blindness and deafness, Mickey navigates life with a goofy grin and a mellow attitude. His gentle nature makes him the perfect companion. He may not see or hear you, but he feels your presence, your touch, your kindness. And he will find you if you have food! Mickey is a testament to resilience, showing us that joy can be found even in the face of challenges. His happy demeanor and gentle spirit make him an exceptional friend. Mickey does well with other low energy dogs, cats, and even made friends with the bunny in his foster home. He's potty trained and loves going for walks. He's also a big fan of toys and enjoys playing just as much as enjoys snuggling up in a comfy bed. Due to glaucoma, Mickey had surgery to remove both his eyes. Once he's healed up, he'll feel much better without the pain and pressure. Blind dogs do very well and it’s easy to forget they can’t see because they navigate around the home so well. To keep him happy and healthy Mickey needs allergy meds that cost about $45 a month. Mickey is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested, and micro chipped. His adoption fee is $250.00. Did you know that SAAP’s motto is ‘once a SAAP dog, always a SAAP dog?’ Thanks to our motto, Laszlo is back with SAAP after being adopted in 2016 where we are committed to finding him a new home! He is a 10 years young pup! When he first came to SAAP, the shelter thought him to be a Shih Tzu mix but I think I see some Pomeranian in him too. Either way, he is definitely 100% adorably fluffy!! He had extensive dental work which he is finishing up his meds and so, we will bathe him and get some better pics! He has been an absolute dream foster! Seems potty trained; super sweet; fairly quiet and when he does bark, it’s a very soft bark. He has been great with the dogs and ignores the resident cat! And bonus - he LOVES belly rubs! Meet Winifred! This sweet but shy gal is an 8.5-year-old, 20lb Shih Tzu who is looking for a forever home where she can relax and come out of her shell! She is a low energy girl, preferring to spend her days relaxing nearby and taking in the world around her. Winifred was rescued from a puppy mill so she is slowly starting to learn that she is safe. She is unsure of people at first but doesn't seem to have a mean bone in her body despite her past. If you hold her and pet her she will slowly wag her tail. She is fostered with other dogs and does well with them. She is happy to rest in her crate and is still working on potty training. Winifred doesn't really know what dog toys and a dog bed are, but she would love to learn! Her favorite thing to do is spend time outside soaking up the sun or to take a nap in the grass.
