Story
Welcome to rescue, Jackson!  He is a senior Shih Tzu mix, born 2013.  His owner is moving into an assisted living facility, so he needs a new place.  Jackson has been living in a senior care facility, so he is familiar with that type of environment.  He doesn't need a fenced yard because he is used to only going outside on a leash. Jackson is very sweet.  He loves to just snuggle in his bed (or with you) and he also does well in the car.  He loves everyone - kids, adults, cats/kittens and other dogs.  He is not used to being kenneled, but he is fine being left home alone.  He'll need a refresher for potty training in his new environment. Jackson is blind in one eye.  He doesn't know how to go down steps, but is able to go up the steps.  Apply today if Jackson seems like a good match for you! The suggested adoption donation for Jackson is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Molly is a senior Shih Tzu, born August 2017.  Her owner, whom she lived with since she was a puppy, has passed away recently so Molly is looking for a new forever home.  She's very shy when meeting new people and needs time to warm up.  She prefers being around women.  Molly is housebroken and will go outside on her own if she has a pet door (she's had a doggy door all her life).  Molly is leash trained and will be ready to go on short walks with you or go for a car ride to get a pup cup!  She also fetches and knows some commands. The perfect home for Molly is a place where she can be the only dog or possibly with another dog that doesn't mind being bossed around by Molly.   Patience may also be needed as she learns the rules of a new home and adjusts to a new environment.  Molly hasn't been around smaller children, but has done well going for walks with older children. Molly sleeps under the bed half the time and on top the other half.  She eats 1/4 cup food twice daily of dry dog food and a little wet food mixed in.  She used to bolt out the door and run, however, this has not happened in a few months.  She does have an Apple air tag on her collar in case she runs out again.  She doesn't go far, but seems to want you to chase her.  She definitely needs a fenced yard.  She barks at other dogs outside - this has gotten better, but there are times she just keeps barking. If you have lots of love and attention to share with a sweet older girl, apply to adopt Molly today! The suggested adoption donation for Molly is $450, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.  Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.
