Meet Our Sweet Shih Tzu – Looking for a Loving Retirement Home We’ve had our Shih Tzu since he was a puppy in 2012, and he’s been a loyal, cuddly companion ever since. He’ll be 13 this year and still has bursts of energy when he gets excited, but he’s mostly content relaxing by your side. He knows basic tricks like shake, roll over, sit, and stay (when he’s in the mood), and he loves to be near his people. He’s gentle, affectionate, and still enjoys short walks and calm playtime. He has chronic ear infections and dry eyes, which we manage with daily ear and eye drops. He’s used to the routine and cooperates well, but he needs someone comfortable with ongoing care. We’re heartbroken to rehome him due to our kids’ allergies, but we’re hoping to find someone who will spend time with him, understand senior dog care, and make his final years full of love and comfort.

Millie came into rescue with issues stemming from severe neglect. She is much healthier now and ready for her forever home! Millie is just a sweet, funny, sassy little lady who wants to hang on the couch with you or explore in the yard. Millie will need continued care for her eyes but otherwise is healthy and active. She is crate and potty trained and also just started playing with toys. Millie has been such a joy and anyone that gives her a chance at a loving home will not regret it!

Oscar is the sweetest and kindest soul, He is OLD. There's no other way to describe him, His skin is in rough shape, bumpy and has rough patches. It looks like he has had some grooming in the past, but there's not been attention to flea treatment or actual bathing. His nails were far too long for comfort. He was very dirty when he came to us. Oscar was very sweet and gentle in spite of this. Noting this, we can say that Oscar likes a soft bed, good food (he's very thin), and his own space. He will give a little low growl to let you know that he likes to lay quietly right where he is. Ideally, we could see Oscar in a home that understands he needs patience, love, and a soft place to lay, in a calm and quiet environment. Oscar can't see well, probably can't hear great. He is in line for a vet exam and hopefully we will be able to get his remaining teeth cared for. We know that Oscar is at least 14 years old because he came to Rescue with a microchip that was placed 14 years ago. There was no contact information with the chip. Sadly, an owner couldn't be identified. We are hoping to give this elderly guy a gentle loving here-on-out home. He deserves this.
