Story
Say hello to Henry! Henry is an approximately seven-year-old, 16-pound male Shih-Tzu mix, available for adoption in Phoenix Az at Chi Town Rescue. Sadly, this is not Henry's first go-round with looking for a forever family. Henry was adopted quite a few years ago from us, but recently turned up as a matted and dirty stray near a homeless shelter in Bisbee. We contacted his owner who said that she had given him to her brother and could not care for him anymore. One of our amazing volunteers took a road trip to Bisbee and brought Henry back to Chi Town Rescue, safe and ready to find a true forever this time around. Henry is a happy, fun, and friendly adult/senior dog. He is social with people and loves cuddle time and hugs. He is also social with other dogs and enjoys play-prancing and a little wrestle-time; bring your dog from home in to see if they will be buddies! Henry also enjoys squeaky toys, fetch, and walks (he walks great on leash). You may have noticed Henry's adorable underbite. We want to mention that per our clinic, Henry does not need a dental at this time; the coloring on his teeth is staining and not tartar. Henry is a great dog who has had the misfortune of finding himself without a home, through no fault of his own. If you've been looking for a mature but fun little dog and can commit to Henry forever, why not come meet him?! Henry's adoption fee includes vaccinations up to date including Rabies certificate, prior neuter surgery, and microchip. Email chitownrescue@gmail.com for more information/meet and greet appointment.  December 24, 2025, 10:33 pm

Please contact Constance (connibouchard@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Rescued dogInformation Please read! If you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train.  Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue.  However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children, and we do not know how they will react. Hi! My name is Oreo, and I am a beautiful Shih Tzu girl who was born 1/20/20, and I weigh 11 pounds. I am still a bit fearful of people, so would do best with a patient adopter as I learn to trust. I must have a fenced in yard and a sibling to play with and learn from.  If you have been waiting for a gorgeous Shih Tzu girl, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org. PWRESCUE.ORG *PHOENIX METRO AREA ONLY* *MUST HAVES:  Another playful confident dog; secure fenced yard** Meet Yoda, a 1½-year-old, 16-pound Terrier/Shih Tzu mix with a big personality packed into a petite body. With his wispy “wild child” ears and mischievous sparkle, Yoda is equal parts charm, fun, and heart. Yoda was originally found as a stray and is now thriving in a foster home while waiting for his forever family. He is a very sweet—but shy—boy who needs a patient, understanding home that will allow him the time he needs to feel safe and confident. If you’re familiar with the 3-3-3 rule (and if not, we encourage you to look it up!), it describes Yoda perfectly. He isn’t a dog who will instantly settle in, but with patience and consistency, he blossoms. Once he trusts you, he’s deeply affectionate and wonderfully loyal. An energetic and happy pup, Yoda loves staying active. Long walks, games of fetch, hikes, shopping trips, and patio dining are right up his alley. He would also enjoy having a friendly canine companion to wrestle and learn from, along with a fenced yard for zoomies and sunny lounging. Yoda is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines—fully ready for his next great adventure. Now all he needs is the right person (or people) to take that journey with him. Story
Clyde is a sweet 10 year old Shih Tzu.boy who lost his home because after having him 10 years, his owners decided he is not good around their kids. He did not deserve to be given up on just because he is aging. Additionally they allowed him to become very overweight which could definitely contribute to his sometimes grumpy mood. We have not observed any bad behavior here at the rescue. He is really a nice dog, easy to have around and not at all demanding. He is in good health, fully vetted and ready for a new home and a Weight Watchers membership. It is imperative that his new Adopter keeps him on a diet to help him reduce his weight. He's clearly not comfortable how he is. He would love the yard to run around in as well as to bask in the sun. He may need some forced walking to help with retrieving the waistline he once enjoyed. according to his former owners, Clyde is housetrained. Clyde is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will require brushing and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Clydes's Adoption fee is $275 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog. We review each application carefully. Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair ever dog and family for a successful and happy life.

Story
Wrigley is an adorable five-year-old male Shih Tzu. He is very loyal and devoted to his person. He is generally well behaved, but would do best with either no other dogs or possibly a female dog. He gets a little bit possessive sometimes as he is very devoted to his master. He is very obedient and knows basic command commands. He does need an owner with some dog experience and a fairly firm hand. He will try to take advantage in some situations. Mainly with being protective of his owner, when other people come into the house. He is fairly well house trained, but will need a little tuning up. He is a personal favorite of mine, the rescue owner. Wrigley is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Wrigley’s adoption fee is $400 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. Story
Lincoln is a super friendly Gold and white Shih Tzu boy and is about 2 years old. He walks well on a leash and is eager to please but he still needs to learn most of the basic commands. He’s excellent to groom and rides well in a car. He gets along with all of the other dogs and has the typical easygoing temperament a Shih Tzu is best known for. He loves everyone he meets and loves to lounge around between meals and playtime. He gives great kisses and seeks attention and affection. Lincoln weighs 19 lbs but could stand to lose a little weight. I’m Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well housetrained Lincoln is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. Lincoln is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Lincoln’s adoption fee is $400 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. Little man came to the rescue after his owner sadly passed away, and he has been anxiously awaiting his forever home since that time. Little Man is such a sweet boy. Little man is a little slow to warm up, but once he does, he will be your constant shadow. He is the perfect lap dog who wants nothing more than endless cuddles. He would likely do best in a home with someone home more often than not. He is very awkward when picked up (his foster mom describes this as sloth mode), so he will likely do best in a home with older children, if any. Little man struggles with food allergies, which is maintained by his protein-specific diet (no sneaking treats). He is potty pad trained but needs some additional some time and work to be completely house trained.   WEEKEND ADOPTION EVENT LOCATION: Saturdays 11am to 3pm at Petco at Tatum & Bell Rd       4727 East Bell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85032  *Visit our website or Facebook page for special events schedules, news, and more info!* Website: www.azsmalldog.org     Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/arizonasmalldogrescue/Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 6, 2025, 1:59 pm

Story
Meet Kiwi, a sweet and gentle 1 year-old Papillon mix who's looking for a second chance at a happy life. Rescued from a backyard hoarding situation, Kiwi’s early life experiences were limited, and she's had minimal human interaction. However, with the right family and environment, she's ready to blossom into a loving and playful companion. Kiwi’s ideal home would be one with at least one other active and friendly dog who can help her gain confidence in humans. With the guidance and companionship of a canine friend, Kiwi will slowly begin to trust her human family members. Once she feels comfortable, she'll shower her loved ones with affection, playfulness, and laughter. Kiwi’s forever home requires: - Patience and understanding as she builds trust with humans - No small children, to ensure a calm and gentle environment - At least one other active and friendly dog to serve as a companion and role model - A family committed to providing a stable and loving home If you're ready to provide Kiwi with the love, care, and patience she needs, she'll reward you with loyalty, affection, and joy. With time and gentle interactions, Kiwi will become a beloved member of your family.
