Please contact Constance (connibouchard@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Rescued dogBiographyImportant InformationPlease read!If you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train. Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue. However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location.Hi! My name is Portia, and I am a beautiful Shih Tzu girl who was born 3/18/22, and I weigh 9 pounds. A sibling to learn from and play with would be ideal. If you have been waiting for a gorgeous Shih Tzu, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org.Love, Portia 072024-43  December 15, 2024, 10:51 am

Story
PWRESCUE.ORG **PHOENIX METRO AREA ONLY** Meet Ozzie and Oreo, a delightful senior pair of sweet, shy companions looking for a peaceful haven to enjoy their golden years. Ozzie, a Havanese mix, and Oreo, a Shih Tzu mix, are both 9 years old and ready to retire in a loving, quiet home. This charming duo seeks a serene environment where they can be the center of attention. They would thrive best as the only dogs in the household, allowing them to soak up all the love and care you have to offer. A home without young children would be best, as they prefer a tranquil setting to unwind. Despite their age, Ozzie and Oreo have plenty of affection to give. Adopting them means offering a cozy, quiet and low key retreat for their twilight years while enjoying the special joy of their loving companionship. They both have a bit of a vocal streak, making them not suitable for apartment or condo living. Ozzie and Oreo are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00 for the pair. If you’re ready to provide this sweet pair with a loving home, please visit https://pwrescue.org and click on the "Adopt" button to complete an application.   Pathways Home Animal Rescue November 4, 2024, 2:59 pm

Story
PWRESCUE.ORG *PHOENIX METRO AREA ONLY*  Yoda is an adorable one-year-old, 11 pound Terrier/Shih Tzu mix in search of his forever home after being found as a stray.  To thrive in his new environment, Yoda would greatly benefit from an active home with another dog, where he can learn and develop good behaviors through play and interaction. His distinctive name reflects his wild ears and playful expression, reminiscent of the small, wise character from Star Wars.  As a young and active pup, Yoda is full of energy and always eager to engage in play and wrestling matches with other dogs. He brings a sweet and silly demeanor that is sure to charm anyone he meets.   Additionally, having a fenced yard would be an ideal setup for him, allowing him to run and romp freely with his furry friends. With the right companions and space to play, Yoda is sure to flourish and become a cherished part of any family.  Because he was found as a stray, we don't know his history with children, so any children in the home should be older and of a gentle, respectful nature.  He has not been cat tested, so cats are an unknown.  Yoda is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and microchipped.  If you are interested in this sweet boy, please visit our website at:  https://pwrescue.org and click on the 'Adopt' button to complete an application.  His adoption fee is $380.00.Pathways Home Animal Rescue January 30, 2025, 9:02 pm

Story
Clyde is a sweet 10 year old Shih Tzu.boy who lost his home because after having him 10 years, his owners decided he is not good around their kids. He did not deserve to be given up on just because he is aging. Additionally they allowed him to become very overweight which could definitely contribute to his sometimes grumpy mood. We have not observed any bad behavior here at the rescue. He is really a nice dog, easy to have around and not at all demanding. He is in good health, fully vetted and ready for a new home and a Weight Watchers membership. It is imperative that his new Adopter keeps him on a diet to help him reduce his weight. He's clearly not comfortable how he is. He would love the yard to run around in as well as to bask in the sun. He may need some forced walking to help with retrieving the waistline he once enjoyed. according to his former owners, Clyde is housetrained. Clyde is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will require brushing and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Clydes's Adoption fee is $275 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog. We review each application carefully. Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair ever dog and family for a successful and happy life.

Story
Teddy was born on 11/30/23. I got him about six months ago. My friend had passed away and I then received him. He is considered a Lavender Shih Tuz. He is also imperial. That means he will stay small. He weights 11 pounds. He is a wonderful dog. Very handsome and friendly. He follows me every where I go. The problem is I have two senior dogs and he gets to rough with them. He is leash trained. He uses a doggy door. He should be adopted as an only dog or with larger dogs. It would be nice if you stayed home with him. A senior citizen would be nice to have him. Please ask any questions you have.

Story
SNUGGLER. LOVER. YOUNG-AT-HEART. Coach found himself at the county shelter as a senior in rough shape. He had a terrible upper respiratory infection that turned into severe pneumonia. When we saw he was listed for euthanasia, we stepped in to save him and brought him to the emergency room. After receiving intensive care, including oxygen, he spent weeks recuperating under the watchful eye of our medical team and staff. Now fully recovered, Coach walks politely on leash as he gets his neighborhood strolls in. He can also be left alone in his crate while you run errands but will snuggle up with you as soon as you come home. Coach shows his playful side once he’s given a chance to warm up. Once he trusts you, he’ll love you forever. He even loves playing with dogs of his size or smaller. This young-at-heart senior enjoys going to new places, though he is more cautious with new people. Coach’s adoption fee includes his completed veterinary exams, vaccines, neuter and microchip. Apply now to meet your new favorite Velcro-dog that just loves to be loved and to love YOU! Abu is 18 years old but still vibrant for his age. He is so adorable and has so much love to give. He is potty-trained; however, he is now blind and deaf as he is an older dog. But he still roams independently around the house and is adventurous. Our mom has dementia now, and I feel that Abu is being neglected and needs a good, loving home to get more playtime.

Story
Carmelo was born May 4, 2024 to a family who breeds Shih Tzus and sells them. Our family bought him in July of 2024. My husband decided to get the dog for the children since we bought a new home. He works out of town, I work a lot of hours and the children are in school all day. They are not old enough for the responsibility of having a pet and I don’t have the time or desire the responsibility. I would like him to go to pet parents who can take the time to train and care for him. I hope that he can go to a great home where he is loved.

Story
Ivan is an adorable Lhasa poo who is 1-2 years old but still very much a puppy! He is soft and cuddly and loves to play. He walks on a leash and likes car rides! He loves everyone and gets along with most other dogs. He was just neutered so still has a bit of testosterone and can sometimes square off with another male who is dominant. He is well mannered and learning the house rules. Ivan is a real people lover and would love an active person or family to call his own! Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well housetrained Ivan is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. Ivan is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Ivan’s adoption fee is $450 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue.
