Please contact Constance (connibouchard@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Rescued dogBiographyImportant InformationPlease read!If you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train. Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue. However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location.Hi! My name is Portia, and I am a beautiful Shih Tzu girl who was born 3/18/22, and I weigh 9 pounds. A sibling to learn from and play with would be ideal. If you have been waiting for a gorgeous Shih Tzu, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org.Love, Portia 072024-43  December 15, 2024, 10:51 am

Story
Peanut, a thirteen-year-old, 11-pound Shih Tzu mix, is a mellow senior with a heart full of calm companionship. This laid-back little fellow enjoys being near people but isn’t one to demand constant attention. Peanut is perfectly content exploring a yard at his own pace, pausing to “water” his surroundings, and showing little concern for who might be nearby. He’s not particularly interested in toys or treats but delights in quiet moments and gentle affection. Peanut is easygoing around other dogs, neither reactive nor eager to engage. He allows polite greetings but prefers to do his own thing, making him a peaceful addition to a home with other pets. He’s also completely comfortable with being touched and handled, including sensitive spots like his paws and tail, making him a wonderful companion for someone looking for a relaxed and low-maintenance furry friend. Peanut is a Guardian Angel dog with an adoption fee of $225. Guardian Angel dogs are highly desirable and command an increased adoption fee. This higher fee is used to defray the costs of caring for rescues with special needs, either medical or behavioral, or for those who are with us for unusually long periods of time. In this way our Guardian Angels directly help our other rescues! Adoption fees include spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment by calling 602-971-1334.

Story
Clyde is a sweet 10 year old Shih Tzu.boy who lost his home because after having him 10 years, his owners decided he is not good around their kids. He did not deserve to be given up on just because he is aging. Additionally they allowed him to become very overweight which could definitely contribute to his sometimes grumpy mood. We have not observed any bad behavior here at the rescue. He is really a nice dog, easy to have around and not at all demanding. He is in good health, fully vetted and ready for a new home and a Weight Watchers membership. It is imperative that his new Adopter keeps him on a diet to help him reduce his weight. He's clearly not comfortable how he is. He would love the yard to run around in as well as to bask in the sun. He may need some forced walking to help with retrieving the waistline he once enjoyed. according to his former owners, Clyde is housetrained. Clyde is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will require brushing and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Clydes's Adoption fee is $275 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog. Story
Lulu is a cute 6 year old Shih Tzu girl who is laid back and loving.. She is confident and seems friendly with all people she has met. She gets along fairly well with the dogs at the rescue but we feel she would do best as an only dog in an adult home. She walks well on a leash and does well in the car. She is gold and white and weighs approximately 18 lbs but is on the heavy side and could afford to lose a few pounds. Lulu has occasional accidents in the house so she will need close observation and some reinforcement with her training. She loves to play with toys and chew on her bones and treats. Lulu is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will require brushing and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Lulu's adoption fee is $375 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Lane came to us as a stray dog. While he most certainly had a home, we were unable to find his owners. He was not in the best condition and suffered from neglect but surely he was loved as he is so loving to people. He greets you up on two legs happily bouncing to announce his joy of your arrival. He responds gregariously to your happy voice and encouragement. Lane also feels better now as he had his horribly rotten teeth cleaned and extracted as needed. Lane is estimated to be 10 years old and while his clouded eyes make him look older, his jubilant personality makes him seem much younger. Lane deserves a home where he will be so loved and well cared for. He is a very slight guy weighing about 9 lbs and an absolute peach on the grooming table. We will certainly miss this exhuberant dog when he leaves us but we know he will bring his new owners as much joy as we hope they have to offer him. Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well house trained Lane is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. Lane is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Lane's adoption fee is $325 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. Story
Cash is an adorable Shih Tzu Mix and is approaching 8 years old. Say her owner had to give her up because they were unable to afford rent with the pet fee. Cash attaches easily to her person and wants to be with them most of the time. Well, she can certainly be left alone. She would do best in a home where someone is home most of the time. Cash is a “Young” older dog and loves to play fetch with the ball. She is quite active. She is house trained and weighs approximately 13 pounds. She would make a lovely pet for almost any family although she has not been tested around small children. She may shed minimally. Cash is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Cash’s adoption fee is $375 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee.
