Story
Lily is a sweet girl who is 16 years old. She loves to be petted and snuggled. She does sleep a lot. We took her in 15 months ago because a friend needed to go back to work full time after her husband had past away. She is House broken but does need assistance getting outside. I work full time and my wife will no longer be able to take care of her.

Story
When we first spotted this little 5-year-old Shih Tzu, we assumed he was just a neighborhood pup, enjoying a snack from our feral cat colony's feeding station. But as the days turned into weeks, his increasingly matted fur and unkempt appearance told a different story—he was alone, and he needed help. Our hearts broke as we watched him grow more disheveled, and we knew we had to step in. With patience and care, we were able to humanely trap him and bring him to safety. Once he arrived at the sanctuary, he was gently groomed to remove the painful mats, revealing the sweet soul underneath. Since then, he has been taking his time to decompress, learning that he’s finally safe. He’s a very shy boy, but we know there’s a world of potential in him. To help build his confidence and teach him the joys of being loved and cared for, he’s set to attend a 5-week board and train program. We’re so excited to see this amazing little guy blossom. For perhaps the first time in his life, he’s on the path to finding a real family—one that will cherish him, keep him safe, and help him thrive. If you’re ready to open your heart to a boy who deserves the world, he’ll be ready and waiting for you. If you think you could be the loving home that Booger deserves, please submit an adoption application through our website at skysanctuaryrescue.org/applications. Once we receive your application, we’ll be happy to answer any questions and set up a meet and greet.

The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train. Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue. However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location.Hi! My name is Portia, and I am a beautiful Shih Tzu girl who was born 3/18/22, and I weigh 9 pounds.
