NEWBIE ALERT!! Meet Chewy!! This handsome guy came to us from a local overcrowded shelter! He’s an adorable Shih Tzu mix. He’s around 2ish and weighs 15 lbs. He’s a sweet boy who does wonderful in the house and gets along great with all people and animals. He’s a pretty quiet and chill boy. He’s utd, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and neutered. Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Poppy is a beautiful 6 year old shih tzu. She is shy at first, but is learning to be a best friend. She absolutely loves attention, neck scratches and kisses. She loves to play with her toys, gets along great with her foster doggy sisters and is cat friendly. She is still learning how to walk with a leash, but is making progress every day. When she came to us we weren't sure she had even been outside walking on grass before, but now she loves running around in the back yard like a mad woman. She is crate trained but prefers to sleep in bed with everyone. Sleeps all nights and is a love bug in the mornings. Poppy is easy going, laid back, and not much of a barker. She is doing well with potty training, but does still have an occasional accident in the house. We don't think it will take her much once she is comfortable in a new home setting and routine to become fully house trained. Included in each adoption: age appropriate shots, microchip, and spay/neuter surgery.
