The oh so beautiful inside & out Bert whose picture screamed the disgusting neglect he was in, in a death camp of a scary shelter in CA. He was so matted & unrecognizable to the dog you see now. If you put his pictures up before & after you would not recognize him as the same dog. He was posted looking so very defeated. Yes, it appears at the age of 3 he was going to die which is absolutely unacceptable & disgusting. We rescued this beautiful little lad & thank goodness we did when we did. That day was 1 very sad & joyous day all at the same time. Without his outstanding foster mum, this would not of happened for Bert. Bert who is now looking for his very own forever home & who will never give up on him again & dump him & love him just as his foster mum in CA & his foster mum in WA here does too along with us. After we rescued Bert he was bought back to WA state from CA where he can’t wait to find him his loving forever home. The absolute insanity to think this baby doll ended up in one of the highest kill shelters in CA is soul destroying. Bert just wants to be loved. Disturbing to think no one wanted him & he was ready to die. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA kill shelters. When we first rescued him, he ate multiple bowls of food as if he is making up for lost time. In his foster home his foster mum cooks for him & he eats clean. Fruits, vegetables, grains, raw meat & other proteins along with supplements. He also adores a good treat. We believe his food was restricted prior to us rescuing him. He ate with his 2 foster siblings together in CA & in WA his foster mum feeds him separately from his foster brother who he loves. Bert is a very soft gentle soul, he is so easy his foster mum said considering what he has endured. His foster mum said Bert is a very sweet dog & loves his humans once he knows them. Lays with you & can't be happier being petted & touched. He also loves to be with his buddies & just lay with them or do whatever they are doing. But is also a big player. She said he is really such a good & smart boy. He loves everyone he meets after he knows them & enjoys being cuddled to & given love. He also enjoys snuggling up on the couch & will jump on the couch & spend his day relaxing. He enjoys sleeping on the couch & sleeping in bed with you at night. In his current foster home in WA state Bert discovered a mirror & his reflection & was so fascinated by himself it was so cute & adorable. He also loves a good outfit & playing with his toys. His foster mum still cannot believe someone would be so cruel & neglectful to Bert. Bert’s new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard for his safety. He enjoys going out into the backyard in his foster home & having a wander around. Bert has been great with his baths because he started having them with us in his loving foster home the moment he was rescued so he is used to them. He has also started getting used to being dried with a hairdryer. He will just let you dry him. He loves his foster mum & his foster friends. He has put on weight since being in his loving foster home & was thin when first rescued. Bert rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & will sit in his car seat next to you with his dog friends. He also enjoys looking out the window. Bert is a wonderful walker on his harness & leash & loves going on many walks. We are looking for a forever home for Bert where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. We are also looking for a crate free home for the little lad only. He was left in a cage in the shelter until we rescued him. Bert is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Bert has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & fostered with other dogs in his foster home & does well with them & enjoys their company. He absolutely needs another dog in his forever home for him to thrive. An elderly dog would not work as he loves playing. Bert is roughly 3 years old 17 lbs & is perhaps a shi poo mix, what he is mixed with we are not sure at all. He is male, neutered. Had a dental scale & polish along. He arrived so extremely thin & had put on weight in his loving foster home. He was taken to our amazing vet & it was determined this boy was in big trouble, he had pneumonia, trouble breathing, a high temperature & a foul smell coming from his eyes. He had to be admitted immediately & received x-rays, iv fluids, bloodwork, iv injectable’s, critical patient care. He is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed. We have spent well over $3,000 saving Bert’s life. Bert has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. We have not had him around small children in the rescue so we do not recommend children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Bert was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Bert’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Bert potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Bert has been through many traumas in his short time on this earth so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Bert & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Bert who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this spirited little lad. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Bert has an adoption fee of $1250 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.
